Education Specialist Program: Taking Your eBay Business to the Next Level

At the start of 2013, many eBay sellers are looking for ways to take their business to the next level. If you are one of those sellers that is ready to “ramp it up” in the new year, then I’m going to tell you a little secret. There is actually an eBay program that encourages access to classes for eBay sellers — and the best part is that these classes are actually taught in neighborhoods all across the United States!

Here’s how it works:

Ebay offers seasoned professional sellers who are interested in teaching others an opportunity to train through the eBay Education Specialist program. Once these sellers complete their training, they can become Certified Education Specialists. Although they aren’t actually employed by eBay, these specialists are trained the “eBay way” and can then provide instruction for those interested in selling on eBay.

While some of the classes are taught in groups, the Instructor can also provide one-on-one training at either their office or in your home or business. While many of the classes offered are set up for people that are just starting to sell on eBay, there is also a class for established sellers that want to learn more. This class is called, “Beyond the Basics.”

This advanced class provides an actual analysis of your store by an Education Specialist in your area. He or she will review your listings and give you ideas about things you can do that will help you sell more and reach your selling goals.

Although there is a fee for each class, since your instructor can help you learn to  sell more faster (instead of stumbling through the learning process all on your own),in my opinion, it is well worth the price. Education Specialists not only give you tips on how to create better listings, but they also show you how to market your eBay business, analyze traffic reports for your store and learn how to use eBay listing tools to create listings more efficiently.

If you’re unable to afford classes right now, keep in mind that Ebay also offers free phone consultations through the eBay Seller Outreach program. For those ready for the next step and serious about selling on eBay for a living, however, I believe you will find the classes well worth the price.
