Sell on Amazon – Who, You?

These days, it seems you can’t turn on a TV, go on the internet or talk to a friend without hearing something about Amazon. From vitamins to housewares to clothing, people buy EVERYTHING from Amazon. With their Kindle program, people order and download movies and books. Even children are getting a slice of the Amazon action through their children’s reading programs and videos. Have you bought anything from Amazon lately? I’m sure you have. With so many folks turning to Amazon for almost everything, there has to be someone on the other end of that transaction… why not you? You might think it’s hard, but it’s actually easy to start selling through Amazon.

I have been selling on Amazon for years and would recommend it to anyone. It may seem difficult to sell online, but Amazon is different than other eCommerce sites because of the FBA (Fulfillment by Amazon) program – all you have to do is purchase inventory, ship it to Amazon, and you’re done. They take care of the ordering process and shipping the item to the customer, as well as providing customer service.

To begin selling on Amazon, simply go to the Amazon Seller Central homepage and click the “Register now” link. It’s free to open up a seller account and they will provide you with all the info you need to start selling. Then, the fun begins – you can start sourcing inventory.

There are many inventory sources, and for some it’s as easy as shopping the clearance aisles at local stores. You can download an Amazon price check app on your smartphone that allows you to scan items to see how much they sell for on the site. Once you find an item that will sell for a profit of at least $10 (make sure you’ll have enough profit to cover your shipping cost and the cost of the Amazon fees) snap it up, then sell it on Amazon. How easy is that?

Another thing you should know is how amazing their customer service is. Whether you are dealing with them as a customer or as a seller, Amazon has absolutely top-notch customer service. Try them yourself – you’ll be amazed at the level of service you get!

Now that you’ve heard the basics, will you begin selling on Amazon? The fees are cheap, the customer service is the best and sourcing inventory is fun! You have nothing to lose by beginning your career selling on Amazon. I would love to hear your success stories when you’ve become a successful seller. As with anything, the more effort you put into it, the more successful you will become – although it really isn’t that much work at all!
