How to Use

Making Automatic Revisions with Auto-Revise Back to Vendio Reviser Help Menu

About Auto-Reviser
Auto-Reviser makes it easy to perform continuous and automatic revisions to your live items without making manual revisions one-by-one at eBay. Auto-Reviser saves you hours from previous revision methods, and can greatly increase the visibility of your items and your sell-through rate.

Although there are hundreds of different auto-revisions you can make, some possibilities include the ability to extend the duration of your fixed price items to keep them nearer to the top of eBay search results, reduce reserve and BIN prices as items get closer to ending, change your titles and subtitles, activate specific eBay marketing features, and much more. Once you set up and activate your revision rules, Vendio automatically finds live items meeting your revise criteria and makes the appropriate revisions on your behalf. The process is completely automatic and requires no manual effort on your part.

Before setting up Auto-Revise rules, we recommend you view our Strategy Guide, which will help you set up an initial set of Auto-Revise rules based on common revisions that are most effective.

Setting up Auto-Revise Rules
Step #1 Setup Your Revise Conditions
The first step is to define your revise conditions, which are the criteria that Auto-Revise looks for once your items are live. If ANY live item meets your revise criteria (your revise conditions), it will revise the item automatically on your behalf. To set these up, follow the steps below:

The next step is to tell Auto-Revise if it should revise items meeting all of your revise conditions, or items that meet any of your revise conditions. Selecting 'All' from the first dropdown menu means Auto-Revise will revise ONLY items meeting ALL your revise conditions (assuming you have set up more than one). Selecting 'Any' from the dropdown menu ensures that Auto-Revise will revise items meeting ANY of your revise conditions (even if it's just one).

The final step is to set up your revise conditions (maximum of four) by selecting them from the dropdown menus. See below to learn about each condition and what they mean:

If the title contains specific text, you can make an automated revision.

Step #2, Setup Your Revise Actions
Once you have set up your revise conditions, the next step is to set up your revise actions (up to ten), which are the actions Auto-Revise takes once live items meet your revise criteria (your revise conditions). See below to learn about each condition and what they mean:

Duration
If the item meets your revise conditions, you can increase it to the next longest duration, or set it to a new duration.

Category and Category2
If the item meets your revise conditions, you can change the item's first and second category.

Step #3, Set the Recurrence, Activation, and Rule's Name
Once you have set up your revise actions, determine the number of times the revise action can take place for each item. For example, if you set the recurrence to 'Revise each item no more than once', Auto-Revise will only make one revision for items that meet the rule's revise conditions. This holds true even if your items meet the rule's revise conditions again before the listing ends. If you set the frequency higher, say at 5 times, Auto-Revise will make a maximum of 5 revisions for items that meet the rules' revise conditions, separated by the number of hours or days you specify in the time field. For example, say you specify the recurrence criteria in the illustration below:

This means Auto-Revise will only make one revision to your items every six hours, ONLY if your revise conditions are met in each six-hour period. Once the maximum number of revisions (4) are made, no further revisions will be made to those items.

After setting the recurrence of your revise actions, specify if the rule is going to be active or inactive by selecting the appropriate radio button. Note that if the 'Active' radio button is selected when you click the 'Save' button, the rule will begin applying to all live items immediately.

Enter a name for your rule so you can reference it later on. If you want to preview your rule to review its revise conditions and revise actions, click the 'Preview' button. The page will also display existing items that will be affected by the rule once it is activated. When you are finished previewing your rule, click the 'Save' button.

Activating Auto-Revise Rules
Make sure you have first created at least one rule. To learn how to do this, please see Setting up Auto-Revise Rules. To activate an Auto-Revise rule and begin automatically revising your live items, follow these steps:
Deactivating Auto-Revise Rules
To deactivate a rule and stop Auto-Revise from making any further revisions to your live items, follow these steps:
An Illustrated Example of an Auto-Revise Rule
The Auto-Revise rule illustrated below will reduce the reserve price and modify the title of items to that are close to ending and have not met reserve.

By selecting 'all' from the first dropdown menu in the illustration above, the items must meet both revision conditions in order for the revision action to take place. The revision conditions in this example mean that Auto-Revise will:

Once all of the revise conditions are met for any live item, Auto-Revise will decrease the reserve price of 7 and 10-day items where the reserve has not been met by 10%, and add "Reduced Reserve!" to the end of each title (for titles where there are enough characters to do so).
