Anyone else having trouble with @HOME's e-mail services??? I have @HOME and have been having trouble receiving e-mail messages for at least two months.
A friend of mine selling on e-bay had a lot trouble contacting someone with @HOME service and almost ended up with bad feedback that would not have been his fault because she never got his e-mail messages.
I am wondering how wide-spread is this problem???

I have a bidder who won one of my auctions on 10-11-00. I sent her information the same day and since then I have received five emails from her wanting the same information. She acts as if I had never emailed her. I have send her six emails and am beside myself as to what to do. I was a small dollar item, and don't know if it is worth the effort to call her. But, I will probably end up with negative feed back if I don't. Any suggestions from anyone.

I've used @Home for 2 years and very rarely have any problems..Love Them

But I think the service you get may be partially attributed to the local cable company

@home has been upgrading there email servers for the past few weeks. People have had a hard time send/rec email. There was one day last week that the entire mail system was down from coast to coast. If you call and complain they will usually cut you some credit on your next bill.

Thanks for the replies! I am glad to know it is not just me...
I did call and gave them an earful and they said they will not give me a credit for any of our fee because the "e-mail is a free service" of the internet connection we are paying for.
So then I gave them another earful.....

I am from NJ, use Comcast @home. Email is the worst feature, even when it is working, which is sporatic, it is very slow compared to my former dial-up service. I have spoken to their tech people, they are always very nice and courteous, but they say it is due to upgrading of the system. One tech person told me CA was out for 2 weeks, made me feel a lot better, not!! A friend of mine has had @home for longer than I have and says email has always be a problem. Some people who say it is not a problem are not as dependent on it as online sellers are. I do have a yahoo address for emergencies. Meredith

Hello all -

I'm a @Home customer in southern Colorado...have been since January 2000. Email has been an intermittent problem since the beginning. They have 5 email servers located in Texas, and yet the persistent problems. The real problem is that it is not seen as a priority. I've called on a number of occasions, and have received partial credit each time because of the email outages. What I tell them is that I am paying premium $$ for a service, and when the email is down or acting up, I'm not receiving that service. Just don't take "No" for an answer.

I hope they are telling the truth when they say that they are upgrading the email system!

comcast also seems to put a low priority on its high speed internet services to. I had them come and install the service and the cable modem but they left a 50 foot orange cale running from one room to the next to put cable in a room with no outlet and left it that way for 3 months. I made repeated calls to comast and emailed them. they always said that someone would contact me no one did. i finally did the work myself and kept thier cable. still have not been contacted by them.

Yes, I have had the same problems. I am a seller and have sent winning bidder notices to @home customers and they never receive the e-mails. I have been left 2 negative feedbacks because i "never contacted" the winning bidder. I have been a seller for over 2 years and have ALWAYS had this problems with my @home customers. I got around this with one buyer by sending them a pay request through paypal with an attached message that they were not receiving my e-mail's. This actually worked for some reason through paypal (they were able to receive paypal's e-mail). At any rate, I would suggest, if you are going to bid on a auction and you are an @home customer, get another service, as it is a head-ache for sellers and buyers.

I also had problems with their email. I sent them email and tried working with one of their "tech support" people online. He worked me through a couple of situations on my computer, but I knew that they were not correct. He ended up telling me that my computer was the problem. I do computer support for a living and have multiple computers at my house, so I know it was not the computer that was the problem. I just couldn't reach their host.

About 2 weeks later, I received an email from someone at @home and they apologized that they were having email problems for some time now because they were upgrading their service. So, I responded and explained about the hassles that I received when trying to point out the problem. They credited me $$$ but only one month's worth. Maybe it was because I stated in my email that I was evaluating DSL service at the time...

I have had intermittent problems over the past few months using my Comcast@Home service in northern NJ. But the problems have rarely caused me any real hassles, as the only e-mail I don't seem to get is relatively unimportant--why this is true, I do not know.

However, I have not received any e-mail from my Infobeat.com registration for 10 days now, and this is a daily e-mail service I have used for 3 years, with Comcast@home. Today a customer service rep at Infobeat sent me e-mail at work in response to an inquiry:

"InfoBeat shares your concern regarding your
inability to receive the InfoBeat newsletters that
you are subscribed to.

Your Email Provider, home.com has informed us that
InfoBeat email services are being blocked at their
end. We are currently in negotiations with your
Provider to have this block removed. There is no
estimated time for resolution of this situation.

We suggest that you contact your Email Provider's
Customer Service Department to request further
information on the status of the block."

Has anyone ever heard of an ISP blocking e-mail from a popular Internet service such as Infobeat?

I tried cable internet with an @home address ... for about 3 days! It crapped out and I changed to DSL.

The only problem I have now is trying to send emails to people with @home addies - they always get bounced back to me.

Must be a real bummer for folks who rely on @home as their primary means of internet communication. If you folks can handle the SPAM, try a hotmail account ...
