I'm testing the waters slowly at Yahoo. I listied one item this evening with a buy and reserve price that I am sure I couldn't get on eBay. Bam! Four and one half hours latter it sold at the buy price of $50.00.

I have sold many similar items on eBay in the past and have never received that much for the item. Guess the toes go deeper into the water tomorrow.

Now all you have to do is hope you get the dough! I have read that there are a LOT of deadbeat bidders on Yahoo.

Good luck!

RB,

I was paid by PayPal last night and shipped the item today. Maybe it was just luck.

I have seen the truth and it makes no sense.<(©¿©)>

There are deadbeats on Yahoo, but no more so than on Amazon. For all it's talk, Ebay still has deadbeats, too.

But remember, those deadbeats don't cost you any MONEY on Yahoo like they do on ebay and Amazon---time, effort, trouble, yes, but no money (unless you were foolish enough to feature the item!).

marwin,

Wrong. I sold two more items last night. I only had four items listed until today. I am starting to load up with the bulk loader.

I have seen the truth and it makes no sense. <(©¿©)>

Noshill, you haven't just seen the truth, you've been witnessing MIRACLES if you've been doing that well on Yahoo!
I consider Yahoo my "thrift store" where dump my JUNK that hasn't sold after repeated tries on Ebay and Amazon.
And yes, the deadbeats and auction newbies all congregate there--50% more than Ebay/Amazon, I'd calculate.
Plus, I rarely bid on Yahoo because their ads are too short with fewer details than Ebay/Amazon. I sort of wish they'd start charging--maybe it would upgrade their services, scare away deadbeats, and sellers would put a little more effort into writing more comprehensive ads.

belalug3,

There are many fine sellers writing very detailed, comprehensive listings on Yahoo Auction who would be INSULTED to read your accessment of them. Please don't generalize--there are good and bad listings on ALL online auctions.

Yahoo is phasing in the requirement to give a credit card number to buy or sell on the Auction, which will go a LOOOONG way to eliminate deadbeat bidders. At least the deadbeat buyer on Yahoo doesn't COST the seller out-of-pocket like it does on the ebay and Amazon.

Noshill isn't the ONLY seller doing well on Yahoo, contrary to what you and Marwin think.

Perhaps if you listed your BEST merchandise on Yahoo FIRST instead of "dumping" your "JUNK that hasn't sold after repeated tries on Ebay and Amazon", you'd find your Yahoo Auction sales would increase DRAMATICALLY.

granee,

You are correct. If junk is listed anywhere, there aren't going to be many if any bids.

I had a buyer from the UK end 8 of my auctions early on Sunday by taking them all at the buy price. Of course, they weren't junk like the items belalug3 indicates he/she lists.

I'm liking Yahoo more every day. I haven't had a deadbeat yet.

Nostalgia: The good old days multiplied by a bad memory. <(©¿©)>

I too have had good sales on Yahoo!, although in 8 months I have had 16 deadbeats. Am I wrong in thinking that maybe the deadbeat buyers put off eBay then go to Yahoo and such like? In spite of that, I am very happy with my sales, I put my lower profit items (NOT junk!) on Yahoo, and higher priced items on eBay, and I find that works very well. I wish Yahoo would eliminate buyers with a certain bad feedback rating, one deadbead buyer last week that I went to give bad feedback to, had 8 bad feedbacks in one week, for a total of 15!

Congratulations noshill, I have been on yahoo for quite awhile at 1st there were lots of bad bidders but things have really gotten cleaned up and it is a very good place to sell I average about 50 items a month selling most in the $1-$10 range but some better stuff, too. That I have had trouble getting bids for on ebay.

Keep up the work!!!

I too have been having good luck with yahoo. I just started listing some new items there this past week and have been pleasantly surprised. I've been paid thru paypal and even have had a couple of others mail in their payments. I'll be expanding there as time permits.

I agree with Granee & Noshill. Yahoo is working GREAT for me. I love it! I'm very happy with my sales there.

I've only tried a few items and am having better luck on Yahoo than on Amazon. I put four items out there. One of them sat on Amazon for months without a bid. On Yahoo I got a bid in less than a day. Another item has several bid on it. They also are offering their PayDirect service now (very similar to PayPal) Which will make it easier to get credit card payments. If this continues I will probably move everything to Yahoo. I love Amazon -- but there's no buyers (at least for me)

It has to be beginner's luck. I have 5 posted and 3 have bids. Big ones. I can't believe it, but maybe I never gave it a chance.
Anyway, good luck to one and all!

I would like to join the chorus and say that YAHOO has been very good to me! 3/4 of my income is from YAHOO. YES, most winners do Pay!

If they don't and don't contact me, I just remove them as winners, resubmit the item and keep going.

When you remove them, they can't give you a negative comment.

The BUY-IT Price is really GREAT! Most of my sales now are with the BUY-IT Price. These folks know how to use PayPal too!

YAHOO has lots of positives!!

watafind,

A bidder on your Yahoo Auction listing that you have cancelled CAN leave bad (or good) feedback for you after you've cancelled them, so don't be shocked when you get negged by a deadbeat you've cancelled. It happens occasionally.

Incidentally, you should sign up for Yahoo PayDirect to take CC payments. It's free, and is supposed to work flawlessly.

Concerning YAHOO Payments. Did you read the fine print carefully as to a buyer's option of reversing the payment after you ship?? Most interesting...

I am still trying to understand this item from the YAHOO Direct Pay fine print...Does this mean that you can receive a payment, ship an item, and before you direct the money to the Bank, be left with no money???

I am still interested in YAHOO Direct Pay, but this item in the contract concerns me.

15. Canceling Payments. You can cancel a Payment if, and only if, the Recipient has not yet instructed the Bank to credit the Payment to his or her PayDirect Account. To cancel a Payment that has not yet been credited, you must log into your PayDirect Account, select the Payment you wish to cancel, and click on the "delete" button. Payment cancellations are effective when the Bank confirms its receipt of the required information, usually at the time you enter the request at the PayDirect website. ONCE THE RECIPIENT INSTRUCTS THE BANK TO CREDIT A PAYMENT TO HIS OR HER PAYDIRECT ACCOUNT, YOU DO NOT HAVE A RIGHT TO CANCEL THE PAYMENT. You must enter your cancel payment request using the PayDirect service. The Bank does not accept telephone, e-mail or mailed cancel payment orders. Neither the Bank nor Yahoo! will be responsible or liable in any manner to you or any other person for its failure for any reason to cancel one or more Payments.

watafind,

I haven't had a PayDirect payment yet, so I haven't seen how it works....but if you're concerned about a payment being cancelled by the bidder, simply "instruct the bank to credit your payment" to your PayDirect account before you mail the merchandise, and the payment can't be cancelled.

Same with PayPal---withdraw the payment into your bank account, into a check to be mailed to you, or into someone else's account before shipping the merchandise, so the payment can't be cancelled.
