I recently messed up two shipments and sent mixed up the recipients of two items. Recipient number #1 was very polite - let me know what had happened, offered to try to work out a trade with recipient #2 so that all would be well.

Recipient number #2.... emailed him, explained the problem, asked if he had recieved the other card- responded - I still don't have my widget..... GEE YA THINK? I just told you I knew that.

I told him I was aware of that and had he recieved another card that he had not purchased and described how it was packaged. No answer. Other buyer emailed him... no answer... Today I asked him the question again and got this response....

yes, my 13 year old has it, now what? u mixed it up,
whats in it for me?

I responded telling him ...The card he ordered and menotioning that I was unaware that bribery was needed to inspire integrity.

Do know why I would expect much from a grown adult that can't spell or use capitalization but.... lets hope for the best

... the other buyer is being so incredibly understanding and patient I have no problem doing something special for him .

I did this once and one of my greatest fears is that I'll do it again. I was fortunate, though. My buyers shipped each other the right items. I, of course, Paypaled them the money for their postage. What a mess! In the end, it all worked out and we had a good laugh over it.

I've done this a couple of times and it has always worked out OK for me in the end. BUT it's always an expensive problem to correct. I usually eat shipping all three ways and usually end up giving both buyers a discount or some kind of freebie for being cooperative.

Suggestion: Don't have them send to each other- have them send the items back to you, and then you forward things on to where they are supposd to go. Yes, it will take a little extra time and expense, but then you know exactlt WHAT was shipped and WHEN it was sent, not what they CLAIM to have sent each other.

From the buyer's attitude, I think you are stuck. If the item is replacable, just send your good buyer a replacement. If you can't replace it, a full refund and maybe a future discount would be in order.

I did this once too. All in one day I sent the wrong packages to four different people. What a nightmare. Three of the buyers were hard to work with and upset. I naturally refunded them and paid to have the item shipped back to me. One of the buyers was sooo nice. Refused the refund stating everyone makes mistakes.
Long story short in the end everyone got their correct package except the really nice guy who didn't want the refund. His became lost in the mail and he never did get it. Unfortunately then he became suspicious that I just hadnt wanted to let it go for that low of a price. I ended up refunding him. But that didn't help he really wanted the item. Such a shame all in one day. I have never, ever switched labels since and I have never had anything get lost in the mail. I was so upset.

I had this happen to me and I had the same results as you almost. One buyer was very nice and understanding and sent the the item to the other person then let me know how much it was and I paypaled them the money. The other person however was very nasty and rude and demanded that I give him a flat amount in his paypal account before he would do anything and then said he would send it when he got around to it. He wanted twice what it cost me to send it to him and I knew that it would not cost as much because the first buyer was in the same state he was in so I knew it would be just 3.85 for priority. He demanded 12.00. What could I do he wanted that no matter who I hasd him send it to. I had to pay him 12.00 and then it took him a week to get around to sending it. I always try to double or triple check now when I pull the items to be packed. Then to top it off he left me a negative says I was unprofessional by sending him the wrong item. Boy I sure hope he never makes a mistake being so prefect and all.
