I purchased these candlesticks and I wonder if anyone knows who made them. Are they depression glass? Thanks in advance.
I am going out to lunch and will be back later in the afternoon.

I think they may be Westmoreland glass. I'll let you know if I check my books later and if no one else identifies them. Yes, depression era I believe.

Hi Libra,
Here's a picture that might help. It's on page 198 of Colored Glassware of the Depression Era, Hazel Marie Weatherman.
The text reads: 54. DOLPHIN Candlesticks, 7 1/2", pink, green, crystal, late Twenties. NOTE: Westmoreland Glass Co. made a DOLPHIN candlestick similar to items 53 and 54, but with a hexagon base, in the late Twenties and early Thirdies in pink, green, and a light blue. They are still using the mold today for milk glass and crystal.

Thanks a lot ladies.
Then mine would be Westmoreland and they could be new as they only made colors and now they are making them in clear.
I apprecaite your help.

Hi,
Glad I could help. I wonder if Westmoreland made any with a square base like yours or if yours might be from a different company?
Are they marked at all?
Anyway, they certainly are Depression Style and would go with that type of tableware.
Here's a link to a pink Westmoreland dolphin. One of two on eBay now.

Lucy thanks. I have looked everywhere for a mark. I thought Westmoreland marked everything but if they made these there is no mark. They are of very good quality, glass is very clear. I will be listing them soon. Thanks again

If you compare my candle sticks with westmoreland there is a big difference. Between the dolphin tail and the candle cup there is another round piece. The hole in the tail is not open and on the front of the dolphin I have has a jagadded edge, I hope I spelled that right and the tail is not flaired. There are many differences and also my dolphin doesn't seem as big. I will keep searching. When I list them I will not beable to list with a name.

Hi Libra
I checked my book and the Westmoreland ones that I was thinking of have a hexagon base.
How tall are yours? Is there any wear showing underneath them along the bottom of the base line?

The Candlesticks are 5 inches high. The base is 3 inches square These candle sticks look new. There is no wear. I doubt if they have ever been used. If you look at the dolphin it looks a lot different than the westmoreland one. If you look at #53 in the book lucy posted they look like that except that candlestick has a round base.

I know that Imperial Glass made dolphin candlesticks also but I think the bases were just plain and not ridged like the ones you have.
