I registered a PayPal new debit card with ebay to pay my fee's with. Now, I check my account and there is a one dollar debit from ebay.

Anyone else have this happen?

Hi Seth,

Yes, that is ebay making sure you gave them a valid card. They put a hold on your card for $1.00 to make sure it will go through. Don't worry about it and it will come off in 10 days.

Hey a least it isn't FedEx. FedEx hit my card for 3 time for 10.00 each when I started my account. You do get it back in 10 days though.

They use to make to deposits to your checking account totaling $1. I remember seeing a 44 cents and 56 cents deposit at the ATM. I had to tell them the size of the two deposits and was then verified. That was a long time ago.

auctionace, they still do that to verify you on Paypal, this is different, it is ebay verifying your account at Paypal.

If ebay now owns Paypal then why do they have to verify a PP account to pay ebay? Maybe they are verifying the routing of the bank transfers.

Auction - they are not verifying the PayPal account - they are verifying the credit card that is funded by the PayPal account.

Ebay only knows that you have entered a credit card number - it does not know who the issueing bank or funding source of the card is thus the effort to verify.
