For making this a place where real discussions happen. For making it a place where people aren't constantly at each other's throats! I think I may have posted my last on the RT board until after the elections. It's getting really stupid over there. It is a country divided!

This board is indeed refreshing and far superior to any other boards I've ever posted on. At least most of you are good for a laugh when I need it most and are always good for great advice!

Me too Cheryl. I was thinking about that last night. Don't know what I would do without the EO board. People are so helpful. 'fraid I am addicted to it tho.

Now, twelve, this is neutral territory. You cannot disagree about what's happening on the RT. Good old fashioned debate has been replaced by something I can't even put a name to.

BTW, you're always good for a laugh or two! No insult intended.

I haven't been over there in about 8 mos & will never return -- there are too many hateful, evil nasties for me-N-Ralphie...

It's great to know I'll still be able to getcha, twelve. Life just wouldn't be the same. LOL!

Wow, just realized it's already fall up here in Ohio and I've been to maybe two garage sales, went to the flea market once and did manage a couple of antique shows. What an unproductive summer for eBay finds! However, the leaves are just falling from the trees and I just love the smell of autumn. The days are bright, sunny and cool! My favorite time of year!

LOL! It's not too bad a place. I guess it depends on where you live. I live in a front porch community. It's the innercity, but I know all my neighbors. When we have parties, everyone comes. We stand outside in the summer and talk to each other for hours sometimes. When one person needs help, we're all pretty much there for them. I sold my entire vintage jewelry collection on eBay to help one of my neighbor's out. He's repaid me over and over with the things he's done to help us out.

I never had that living in a suburb. However, there are some elements I could live without.

Cheryl: I agree with you. This board is just wonderful! I couldn't have continued selling on Ebay without it; there were too many things I didn't understand (and about Vendio, too!) and wouldn't have had anyone in our little area to turn to.

This is a GREAT place. I love to give anyone the help that they need, of course I enjoy getting help also. I know I would be lost sometimes with out the EO

Like you Cheryl seeing the leaves turning on the trees can winter be far behind? Well it has to be better than those poor residence of the south. Terrible summer for them.

I have only been to a couple of estate sales, maybe 3 garage sales if that many but I enjoy the thrift stores especially the one that doesn't yet know the value of anything.
They are truly a thrift store and besides the sleepers they also have new clothes that sell close to nothing. I have lots of inventory to get rid of then eBay will be toast but I will still come here and see what I can help with.

Take care all and I hope your fall selling makes a few millionaires.

I must agree that I also enjoy the EO board.

The RT is getting a little too psychotic and will only get worse until after the elections.

Here, I learn something new everyday!

Thanks Cblev: I stopped posting on the RT a while back until I saw your "Alternative" thread. Since it wasn't political, I joined in. It was a great thread. I thought to myself, "how can anyone bring politics into this". Well, it happened, didn't it!
I love the EO board.

Hi everybody,

Thanks very much for starting this thread, Cheryl. I read it earlier. Been pondering most of today how to say what I want to say and here it is.

I agree, the EO is a fabulous resource for eBay help. Everything from what your treasure is to how to market it. To say nothing of the nuts-and-bolts help we all need from time to time. We have experts in nearly every field, all of them willing to share their knowledge.

We're pretty much family here, at least for me. Just for starters, look at the outpouring of concern and sympathy for those in the paths of the recent hurricanes, people who have lost pets, suffered other calamities.

I do want to share my feelings and hope this little history of my EO experience doesn't make anyone unhappy.

I joined AuctionWatch in the fall of 1999. Didn't do much posting to the boards at that time. I guess I was a little bit intimidated by all the flaming that went on.

After the mass exodus, when credit cards became a posting requirement, I got brave and joined in again. Learned a whole lot and hopefully helped a few others, too.

But a couple of years later the board started going downhill. There were people posting here who were put down and insulted for asking a simple question. A lot of posts asking for item ID help were derailed with a rude and scornful holier-than-thou attitude that pretty much said "How could you POSSIBLY believe the piece of garbage you bought at that yard sale has any value? I'm an expert in all fields and you know nothing. You idiot!"

A few of those diatribes were directed at me and it made me feel like a big cloud of rain had come over the board. I pretty much stopped posting. No point in putting up with riducule because I asked for some help. I suspect many others had the same experience.

There were even some not-so-veiled threats of turning other sellers in for not collecting sales tax, etc. Nearly ruined the EO for me. The last few months it got better but then a while ago the insults began again. Mild at first but quickly escalating into personal attacks.

I came close to stopping posting at all but then I realized there was no point in that. No one person owns this board. Vendio is the entity that controls who can post and what can be posted. I admire Vendio for their restraint.

Of course I've read that some were suspended but my suspicion is no one is ever permanently banned unless they have egregiously violated Community Guidelines. This is as it should be. Private information is just that, private.

Anyway, thanks everyone for being here for me. I do appreciate the unending help and sharing of expertise from all of you.

Okay, 'nuf said, time for a glass of Two-Buck-Chuck!

Lucy

I love the EO board also. Any question or problem I have had has been answered or solved by everyone. I also get a kick out of all the people joking and carrying on. It's entertainment.

Great to see people post things about their pets, families, garage sale finds and travels.

I wish I had some of the comebacks and jokes you all come up with!!

Yes this is a very informative board and very helpful. I don't get involved in most of the hot topics in RT for one reason...the way I see it you can't change the way people think or act if they have chose to think or act that way. Most of the arguments are because they are blinded to what I would consider to be Godly Truths and I don't think I need to say anymore. You either see it or your don't.
