Take 1 vitamin c tablet with water every 1/2 hour from the time you get up untill you go to bed. Oh yeah every time you get up at night to go to the batroom too. That is quite a few times with all the water you will be drinking. Usually knocks it out of me in 2 days 3 at the most.

When I have a cold during the day I drink as much hot tang as I can handle. Hot soothing liqued with lots of vit. C.
In the evening I switch to Hot apple cider with a drop of spiced rum.

Try an Aussie cure. Much more interesting. Take 1 large glass. Fill 1/3 full with Bundy rum. (any rum will do.) 1/3 glass of hot water. The juice of 1 lemon. Sweeten with honey to suit your taste.
Do this just before you go to bed. Then drink the lot in a single go and go to bedand sleep it off and sweat it out. Works wonders.

Poor Jack! You certainly have my sympathy. Sick on a day when you have to list instead of curling up in a blanket on the couch. Hope you feel better soon!
I take vitamin C with hot tea/lemon/honey every hour or so and it goes away pretty fast, maybe 2 days. I also take Thera flu or something like that for the cough at bedtime so I can sleep and don't wake up my DH.
If you are going to be listing today, you may want to make sure you follow agate18's advice that you drink the rum mixture just BEFORE getting into bed. I am sure that drink would knock anyone out in 5 minutes (hehehe). Of course next time I am sick, I will be sure to try it.

I don't know if it works after you are so bad but the Zicam nasal swabs or spray works super great. They are really best if you start the minute you have the first symptom of a cold. You can' believe how mild the cold will be and how fast you get over it. Walgreen has their brand that is cheaper than the national one.
After I get a cold though I take Alka Sletzer cold plus during the day and the night time at night. If you have high blood pressure though you can't take them because of the high salt content.
Hope you feel better soon! Colds are sooooooooo miserable.

Sorry you're sick, Jack. When I was sick with a cold a couple of months ago, I took Tylenol Cold & Flu tablets around the clock. It didn't make it go away faster, BUT I was able to get my listings done and also get some sleep. It worked for me.

I hate to drag out the 'old wives remedy' but chicken soup will really help open up the sinus. Chicken noodle soup will do. There is something in the broth that helps. Keep on taking the Vitamin C and cold pills too, they help. Get well soon, sorry to hear you are sick.

You can OD on Vitamin C so be careful. The first sign is diarrhea. It is one of the few vitamins that you can over do it on, iron being another one that is dangerous.

Jack...Get rid of the Coke and substitute orange or grapefruit juice instead. Screwdrivers and Salty Dogs taste better than those overpriced vitamin c pills and you get natural vitamin c in the process. They're picking navels now, so grab some fresh ones and squeeze them yourself.

I swear by ALka Seltzer Plus Cold Med (somone else suggested it too). It seems to make my colds last just a day or two - someone told me once -probably an Old Wife - that it makes your natural anti-bodies kick in to fight off the bug. You have my sympathies!
