I have a cookbook in my pending auctions, to start in 3 days. Just got a message from eBay saying the cookbook sold today, to a buyer of another item a while ago. In Vendio the item is still in pending and it isn't showing up in my closed auctions, which is very unusual. I suppose I could have mistakenly listed it to end today and then double-listed it again, mistakenly, but the closed auction should show up in Vendio, shouldn't it? I feel like Alice in Wonderland right now.
The closed auction is showing in My Ebay, so I don't know what the heck happened here.

You may have copied it at some point, perhaps to use in making up another listing. That would have put a copy in your pending.
Occasionally I've had an auction duplicate itself in pending. It's happened when I've gone to another part of Vendio and then back to the listing section. Automatic save?
As far as the closed one not showing up in Vendio, I don't know about that. Maybe it will show up later.

I'm not sure you can trust anything right now with the ebay search problem and the my ebay problem. I spend most of my time rechecking everything these days.

Okay, I've heard from the buyer of this ghost item so I guess all is well. I've deleted the duplicate in Pending--but I still don't know how the auction got launched. Maybe I walk in my sleep.
Lucy, frequently lately I've noticed two identical listings in Pending. Thank goodness I catch them in time.
Well. This isn't a full moon again so soon, is it?!!

I've had auctions replicate their little selves into my pending list more than once. Seems like most times it's because I've gone in and out of the auction listing page to do something else on Vendio. Upload images or some such.
So I'm paranoidally (is that a word???) careful to be sure I don't schedule a second launch!
So far so good but I'm bound to mess up some time...
