I currently have a Personal Paypal account...Tried to list some items, getting around the Paypal fee for receiving credit card payments by putting in the auction "Paypal by bank transfer only, No credit cards, "...Well Ebay yanked my auctions, so guess I must go to a business account and pay the fees...I know I must pay the fee for a credit card payment from a purchaser, 2.9% =.30 up to 3k, do I also have to pay a fee if it's a bank transfer from a purchaser?...Or, anyone know a way to list auctions to get around those fees for a personal account?!?!?!

No way to get around paying fee's to paypal. Yes you are charged the same rate for e-checks as credit cards. And in a ebay listing I don't think it meets ebay policy (not positive) to say you only accept certian types of paypal payments. You either take paypal or you don't.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

My understanding from reading the PayPal rules is that you can receive up to $500 a month on a personal account with no fees. My sister and I have a business account and I can transfer the money for my sales to my personal account. That works fine for me since I don't sell much. If you are serious about a business and getting over $500 you will need the business account.

it is either a business or premier account.
one way to fight back is to apply for a Paypal debit card and go shopping with it as a credit card.
paypal will give you a rebate of 1 1/2% when you use it in retail store/restaurant etc as a credit card.

hwahwa-stop-w:

PP changed the REBATE to ONE% a few months ago -- except for us all who were "grandfathered" with the original ONEpointFIVE%...

NOTE: you ONLY get the REBATE if you become PAYPAL PREFERRED, which is EASY & NO BFD...just means you can ONLY advertise PP in yer listings -- nobody else's service...

Photo,

You are correct sort of.

There are receiving limits on personal accounts, only problem is ebay no longer allows personal accounts to be used on ebay. This is why we totally dropped them in our ebay listings. We only accept credit cards with our merchant account. It is much cheaper two ways.

First, the basic charge is less than 1/2 of PayPal for accepting credit cards.

Second. It costs us nothing to accept cash unlike PayPal where they charge you an arm and a leg.

Your mistake was that you mentioned in your auction how you accept PayPal.

You cannot say that you take PayPal, but only via bank transfer.

"You may not communicate to eBay buyers (e.g. via your eBay item description) that you only accept, or will not accept, specific forms of PayPal payment."

Tell your buyers how you can accept PayPal in your EOA (end of auction) email, not in your auction.

Mr. Boston Red Sox Ralph presents the following...TENDER TASTY TIDBITS for yer viewing...PLEASURE:

"Why does my Personal account now have a receiving limit?"

Personal accounts have always been intended for personal use only and are not designed to be used for business purposes. We have not changed the intent behind the different types of PayPal Accounts, only the enforcement on our account types. PayPal considers the receiving of payment types that include eBay Items, Auction Non-eBay, or Goods-other (website sales) in excess of the Personal account limit, to be beyond the normal level of personal use. By requiring Premier or Business accounts for all accounts that receive a large volume of payments, PayPal ensures that all high activity selling accounts are treated similarly.

"Is there a limit to the amount of payments Personal accounts can receive?"

Yes. Depending on the primary currency of the Personal account, the receiving limit is $500.00 USD, $650.00 CAD, €500.00 EUR, or £250.00 GBP. (The receiving limit is based on the primary currency of the account. If you receive payments in more than one currency, your limit will be calculated based on the total amount you receive each month after the amount is converted into your primary currency.)

The receiving limit applies to the following payment types: eBay Items, Auction Non-eBay, and Goods-Other (Website sales). All applicable payments which exceed the monthly limit will be placed in accept/deny status until you upgrade your account to receive the payments or you choose to deny them. If no action is taken, the payment is returned to the buyer after 30 days. The limit is reset monthly on the anniversary of your sign up date

"What happens when I exceed the Personal account limit?"

Any payment you receive that exceeds your monthly limit will be placed in an accept/deny status. You will then have the choice to upgrade your account to receive your payment or deny it.

"Can I ask my buyers to pay me using my Personal account if I have a Premier/Business account?"

No. According to PayPal's User Agreement, if you own a Premier/Business account you cannot direct your buyer to pay your Personal account.

"Can I sell with a Personal account?"

Personal accounts are for personal use. You can use a Personal account to send money to friends and relatives (e.g. to split a restaurant tab) and to purchase items online when PayPal is offered. If you earn money by selling items online, you should use a Premier or Business account. Business and Premier accounts have access to our premium services, including the ability to accept credit card payments, 7-day-a-week access to our Customer Service call center, receive seller protection on qualifying transactions at no additional cost, and a comprehensive suite of selling solutions. With a Business account, you'll be able to use all of PayPal's Business Solutions: Website Payments Standard, Website Payments Pro, Email Payments, and PayPal as an Additional Payment Option

"Can I have a PayPal Personal and a Premier/Business Account?"

PayPal allows members to have one Personal account and one Premier or Business account. However, each account must contain an unique email address, bank account and credit card
