Yeah, I just learned about that a couple of weeks ago on the MW Boards. It must be one of eBay's best-kept secrets.
I don't see any way to use it for what I sell, but I can see where some people could benefit from it.

Well this just goes against all of ebay's own rules doesn't it??? Selling your item offline that is. They must make a killing on the listing fee's to make up for the loss in final value fee's.
Dumb question but where do you sellect this option? Since I never list through ebay and use vendio to create the listings I have never seen this option for a listing format before.

hum, interesting, I have a couple items I could do that with but would really need to know price beforehan. I think ebay is reaching and feeling out the market for this type of advertise selling. But I doubt I would use it but who knows may work out for people. I know I search a lot of times for items large ones that may be within certain miles from me for pickup if offered.
edited to ask How do you find these advertised ebay things do they show up in search or what?

I did a little fishing around and found that you can do a "advanced search" on ebay for ad format listings. Snapshot of where it is located:

This has got to be the biggest bonehead idea Ebay has ever come up with. It goes entirely against their privacy policy to provide your personal and contact information when there has been no transaction. On the one hand, they try to protect us (and prevent off site transactions) with their archaic and mostly worthless internal messaging system, and on the other hand they broadcast your personal information to anyone who pays a fee. There's not a whole hell of a lot of difference between this feature and many of the phishing schemes we receive, except Ebay makes this look like the person at the other end is legit because it's on their site and the member is registered with Ebay. It's a crafty phisher's dream come true. He no longer has to pay the email harvester for a sucker list each week.
Jack...On the up-side, I noticed one of the categories this feature can be used in is caskets. So the next time you....Oh well, that's a subject for another thread

Dating? since when did ebay become a matchmaker. It is in the list above. Maybe because people have tried in past to sell themselves. LOL
thanks mike for posting advanced search I hadn't seen that format there before. HUM just shows you are never too old as dirt to learn.

Jack...You might want to hang on to it for awhile. They have a lot of great uses around the house. Standing on end, with a couple shelves inside, they make great filing cabinets for the paperwork on your deadbeat bidders. In the summertime, for family picnics, you can lay them down, line them with plastic, fill them with ice and get at least 6 or 8 cases of beer in them. It also reminds your guests to appoint a designated driver.
