Hi gang,
My current webhost has screwed things up royally, and despite their emails, nothing has been done to correct the problem. It's been 2 weeks now, and my site is "dead in the water".
Can anyone recommend a web host they are currently using, and are happy with.
Also, can I "import" all my pages from my present site to a new host? Or must i start from scratch?
TIA
My blood pressure's up over these guys and I need to change.
I have a bunch of domains with them. Basic web hosting plan is $9.95 a month.
I will warn you, though, that this is not AOL. You need to understand at least on a basic level what goes on on a web site because there is no hand-holding. If you already know about domains, httpd, FTP, etc. you're good to go. Sorry for the warning but I don't know you and I've found the level of technical expertise on this and other auction chat boards to be pretty thin in general.
HE tech support is incredibly prompt. I think you will be pleased.

If you can access your current server, you can move all your data from your present site since web pages are just files, like image files, MP3 files, etc. You FTP them to the new location.
Provided you don't need any hand-holding then I'd recommend 8-95.com, Georgia who run cheap hosting on Apache servers. Very little downtime and excellent customer and tech support. I've used them for around four years.
Basic web hosting is $16.95 a year (under their Twice a Year Plan) which offers: Up to 4 Domains 200 Megs of Space 5 Gigs Transfer/month

If you can't access your current server, you'll need to revisit your last site backup download and upload it to your new server. If not, ask them when it'll be online again. (Hope you are not registered through Registerfly as they are responsible for a growing mountain of DEAD websites.) You should always have a backup of your sites on your home computer and preferably a copy on CD-ROM or DVD-ROM. Or visit the Google cache and hope a copy is still there.
