I want to remind everyone that the upcoming postal increase is actually a wicked marketing opportunity.
Now is the time to have a self-inking stamp made up with "Compliments of" and your business name. Buy a bunch of the makeup stamps (the difference between the old first class rate and the new), tear them into blocks of nine or whatever and stamp them on the back. Then slip one block into each of your packages.
You won't believe the thanks you'll get. And it's a really inexpensive gift.
(I stole this idea from long-defunct Webvan. One of the few things they did right.)

Fluffy .... i truly do not understand this helpful Heloise hint you're trying to impart to us ... please elaborate?

Marcia - What Fluffy means (I hope) is that you need to get a stamp that says Compliments of Marcia's Stuff or whatever business name you have and blocks of the stamps that will make up the difference between the old postal rate for first class and the new. Stamp the back of the blocks of stamps and include them in your packages to your customers.

The last increase for first class was from 37 cents to 39 cents. Every time the $!*%! Postal Service implements an increase, they issue makeup stamps so people can use up their remaining (in this case) 37 cent stamps.
The last time it was a very nice 2 cent stamp featuring silver jewelry. (Great tie-in for me.)
The problem most people run into is that the Postal Service often runs out of the makeup stamps. You, by providing a few to your customer, save them a trip or even two to the post office in search of the stamps.

What a nice and thoughtful thing to do! The next trip to the Post Office I will get a few and put them in the packages with a business card. Thank you for the tip.
