Here is a funny one. Had a NPB on a regular old $9.99 advertisement. Although I paid $1 in FVF when the item closed, I was only refunded $0.99 when the FVF was credited today at the end of the NPB process.

Ebay needs those pennies I guess!

I imagine those pennies add up to thousands if they do the same thing to others...

Why don't you demand your other penny back. You will never get it but you will have made ebay work for it!!!

48 hours had a big show about things like that a few years back. Where grocery stores were charging just a penny here and there but making millions of extra dollars a year because if it.

Make Live Help explain why ebay cheated you out of a penny, then post the chat log.

Now, you know that they aren't calculating each FVF by hand. They use programming code to calculate it. Hence, the "rounding error" experienced by you is certainly spread throughout the entire eBay system... meaning that eBay is generating lots of extra income at the expense of unsuspecting sellers. Who's gonna notice $0.01 missing here or there. Who knows... maybe they even wrote some sort of code so that every x'th numbered FVF get's a penny deducted. I wouldn't put it past them.

It reminds me of a scam that our local grocery store recently ran. They put coca-cola on sale for $0.99, with a posted limit of 4 bottles. Yet, you take it to the register and only THREE bottles get the discount... the fourth rings up full price. After complaining to the service center (which took about 30 minutes, while our ice cream was melting), they credit the amount, and say "yeah", it's a computer error that we know about. Sure would be nice if they just FIXED it!

People shouldn't rely on automated systems TOO much, it's too easy to manipulate things like this.

Sounds like ebay rounds up for payments to them, and rounds down when it isn't in their favor. Millions of pennies add up.

This is very interesting! I wish it could show up somewhere in national news. Friends ask me why I dislike eBay's management so much. It's just slimy little things like this that fry my grits.
