Thought-provoking article by Lee Gomes in his "Portals" column on Wednesday the 12th.
He posits that much like an ordinary cat can't resist a laser pointer, humans can't resist the vast sea of data called the Web and will try to drink from it long past the point of being full.
I showed the article to my husband, who laughed. He's spent at least 20 hours researching light sport airplanes in the last week.
Oh, you just know I'm going to try to relate this to online selling, don't you.
Well, it may very well be true that the more item-relevant information you put in your auction listings, the better. In my category, there are some sellers who quote vast passages from Wikipedia on the properties of this or that gemstone. They may be onto something. The longer someone stays on your item page, the more at-home they feel and the more likely they are to buy something.

I've been doing that a little more often lately. When I come across something I have to research (ie: postcard of a ship, a forgotten hotel etc), I will share some of the relevant information in the listing. I think it does help sales (and all the extra relevant keywords can't hurt).

Fluffy: Would you post a link to that article, please? I'd like to read it. Thanks. ~Adele
