Working on my own website...
(I've noticed much less posting to the eBay outlook over the past year... and suspect that many long-time posters are moving on and devoting much less business to ebay)

I'm here .Taking this small down time to clean house. I felt like the eBay room was taking over like a bad horror flick "The bubble wrap monster" scene 1 starts off with a eBay seller wrapped up tight , just the top of her head sticking out ....feet wiggling out the other end.Packing peanuts laying everywhere. lol you know the scene.

Yes, the evil eBay monster has taken over my house too. So much that I bought the house next door to use for storage and my office. Yes..dumb as it sounds, it was a really good deal. It has been a rental, section 8 and HUD house, was repossesed and went up for sale for $10,000. We went and looked at it, 3 bedroom, half basement, 1 bath but very beat up, all cosmetic except for the kitchen which needs redone completely. We offered them $7,000.00 and they took it!! I can't wait until spring to get to work on it, did not turn heat on because it has been winterized. I want my house back!!

I am in Oregon - and do I have stories about my trip here! The weather was so horrible - delayed flights and scary shuttle ride from PDX to Salem (it was straight out of Polar Express). It was all repeated the next day when my daughter flew in from Vegas. Pixiamom was stuck in Portland until Christmas day.
I shipped all my active postcards listings here via Priority Mail (stay will be extended as I am going to help my mother as she recovers from her surgery on 12/22) and they haven't arrived yet!
And now the snow has melted and it's like it was just a bad dream. In the end we had a nice Christmas (celebrated on the 26th). Mom got to come home early from the hospital and is recovering nicely. We are thankful that all turned out well.

I am so happy to hear your family is together and your mom is recovering nicely. Our ice is all gone now, nothing left to show but loads of limbs to clean up.

Ditto Neglus. I was unable to take the cat with me via Amtrak. Today, I made it back to Portland and found my cat OK, most of the snow has melted and Betsy was able to jump-start my car. All is well in the world. An unusual Christmas, for sure. Spending the holiday with my son, a healing Mom, my sisters, my eldest niece and her really remarkable boyfriend: priceless.

" nothing left to show but loads of limbs to clean up."
Yep...my limbs need a clean up too but it's nothing a good manicure & pedicure can't cure!.....SORRY...it just struck my funnybone!
Glad to hear everyone is fine.
What a super deal on a house! My goodness, I would have snapped that one up too!
Neglus, glad to hear that everything turned out well in your family too and that you Mom is recovering.
My sister-in-law & hubby travelled BY CAR from Vancouver BC down Interstate 5 through Portland and down to Sacremento and over to Reno. They left the day before Christmas Eve and e-mailed us from Redding, Calif. to say that the whole drive was a nightmare but Portland was very very bad.
I can't believe they went through that just to compete in a Bridge Tournament in Reno!
Thankfully we stayed in Victoria although we would not have had much choice as we had the same weather and conditions as the Portland area.

You didn't get out of anything then. It was raining here Friday, then the temp dropped like a rock Saturday. Now we have the worlds largest ice skating rink.

"Now we have the worlds largest ice skating rink."
Stone are you out in my drive way??
This being the first time I have worked for someone other than myself in 30 years I did not have a clue what "personal days" were. The financial Sect. asked me last week if I were going to "waste" my days or use them as they don't roll over like "sick days" Well kids I'm on day 2 of "personal time" What a hoot! I never thought about giving myself personal time.. vacation yes but days just because, what a novelty!
I am actually quite happy with this job, especially now that the recession is being spoken of out loud. It pays the bills. It won't make me a millionare but it takes the stress off. Ruby Lane is rolling right along. Fair to good sales. Pays for itself and makes money... I'm grateful. Good hits..
Happy New Year all, I'm SOOOOO looking forward to Jan 20
Mary Anne my friends outside of Portland lost their power last week and still do not have it. Hope you warm and safe.

I just came back to the states.
I was overseas for 7 weeks, visiting my folks in Hong Kong.
The local newspapers have nothing but grim news on the economy-
local industrial companies, many of them have factories in southern China will close if the world economy does not improve next year, the number could be 70% .
-a 40 ft container going from HK to Rotterdam used to cost 2700 US dollars, now it is US 200 dollars.
-local investors who were sucked into buying papers backed by Lehman bonds are still marching and demanding their money back.
-Chinese workers in southern China are asked to take additional days off during factory closing for maintenance, they suspect they wont have job when they come back as factory would be closed and equipments moved elsewhere or sold.
-Many workers are not being paid on time and their employers have skipped town .
-toy suppliers line up outside toy wholesalers as they have not been paid and demand immediate payments, unfortunately the wholesaler is not on premise and the doors are locked .
Local fresh produce supplier to supermarkets asked the workers to use their credit cards to purchase goods and then file for bankruptcy.
Business advisors suggest restaurants try featuring $1 entree (US 15 cents) to attract customers. How do you make money offering 15 cents dish? OF COURSE THE TRICK IS TO GET THEM TO ORDER THE OTHER FULL FARE DISHES AS WELL.
Merchants are marking down their merchandise so they can recoup their investment, they dont even care about making a profit, lots of markdowns up to 80%.
There are 230,000 foreign workers ,most are maids serving household with both couple working and a kid.
If one gets layoff, there is no need for maid. These foreign workers will then have to go back to their own country.
The popular way of taking one's life seems to be burning coal in a room with closed windows and door?
HK prime rate stays at 5% and banks have no intention of lowering it (ours is now 3.25%).
As for something cheerful to report, the King of casinos from Macau paid HK 25 million dollars for white truffle in a charity auction ,his name is Stanley Ho.
Chinese New year is coming,it is the year of the cow.
A chinese version of our SPAM offered in a trade fair below wholesale cost were all snapped up in 2 hours.

Apparently his name is Gordon Wu, and he paid 161k US dollars, the money going to charity. He doesn't even like truffles. That's walking around money for a billionaire. I bet he still has a maid or two polishing the silver.

I find Hwahwa's tag line very offensive and it is also untrue. I have found her helpful in the past and appreciated her posts but I do not understand why it is necessary to use a tag line that is so insulting and partisan and yes I do take it personally. -----o----o----o----o----o----o----o----o

photo,
I dont understand why some of you find my tagline offensive.
I could see Obama getting offended if he were a private citizen, but he is not and you cant get everyone to agree with you,so it comes with the territory,if you want to be a public figure, you got to live with it.
as for you, since you are not the US president, what is eating you with my tagline?
This is taken from Chairman Mao's economic reform where millions peeled treebarks and swallowed sand on the beach in search of edibles.
I dont go around and ask others to remove their tagline ,some of them to me are just 'corny',irrelevant and plain boring.
By the way,I dont like the cyber wart you have on your nose and I find it offensive,so would you please remove it?
