Can someone tell me the difference between Vendio's free gallery and the one I'm paying $3.95 a month for?

Thanks,
Lynn

I really can't speak for how Vendio's gallery works, but I can state that the one used by Auctiva works great and it's free.

There is no difference - which I found out several months ago when I saw that gallery was now free and I was STILL paying $3.95 / month for it. Vendio didn't bother to tell you that that you can update your account - I think it was under service plans and go with the free gallery and not have to pay anymore.

Hello Lynn,

The paid version of the Gallery has the following features (which are not available with the free Gallery):

1. Two additional styles to choose from.
2. A category-browse tree (in the Basic & Marquee skins) to enable users to browse items in categories of interest, without ever leaving your listing.
3. Ability to specify whether eBay Store or auction items are displayed first.

Regards,
Nathan

Just like Auctiva. Sounds like the Vendio one is a very good one as well.

Um, I guess I am behind times, how do you set up the gallery or is it pretty self explaintory? And where would I start? Thank you in advance.

Hello,

You may subscribe to either the paid or free version of the Gallery by going to "My Account" --> "My Service Plans". You may then select your preferences by going to "Gallery" in the left-hand menu of your Vendio account. Please let us know should you have any trouble.

Regards,
Nathan

Nathan,
I was planning to get rid of the gallery to help trim the monthly account a bit, but if there is a free one, I would like to use it.

I just followed your instructions, looked at the gallery page in my account, but do not see what change would give me free gallery.

Could you tell me exactly what fields I have check to get this?

Thanks,
Susan

Hello Susan,

You may switch to the free version of the Gallery at any time by going to "My Account" --> "My Service Plans" --> click "see other plans" to the right of your current Gallery plan --> click "choose this plan" next to the free Gallery plan.

Regards,
Nathan

Nathan: "two additional versions available"??? What is the default one (if I want the "free" gallery?). The gallery I currently have is a horizontally moving one. Is that what the "free" gallery is?

Thanks for posting this Lynn. I didn't know I could get one for free until I read this.

Thanks for all your help!

I recently (and reluctantly) opened a new paypal account and ran across the free gallery while trying to update selling preferences and coordinate them with ebay, paypal and vendio. My old paypal account info was stolen about five years ago and someone went on a spending spree. I was advised to close the account and was afraid to open another (but now I have no choice).

My old account was simple to set up, compare to now. I'm overwhelmed with the amount of preferences and how the wording changes from site to site. Some are so ambiguous and I'm still not sure if I updated them correctly or if I properly coordinated them with all the sites. I also found that ebay defaulted some preferences at their discretion ... not mine. And ebay's and paypal's help system leaves much to be desired, most answers have nothing to do with the question I'm asking and other answers are still from the old ebay, they were never updated.

I sure wish there was a master preference checklist so I could be sure ebay, paypal and vendio are all on the same page!

Vendio's about the only place where I get timely answers and honest opinions! I'm running my first auction using paypal this week so I guess only time will tell if everything's updated correctly... if not, I'll be asking for your help again!

Again, many thanks!

Sincerely,
Lynn

You do know you can't take checks or money orders any more, PayPal or your own merchant account is the only payment allowed. And media mail items shipping can not be higher than $4.00? There are a lot of new things, I am sure people will be along to help you. That is probably why eBay things defaulted to not your choices. It is a whole different ballgame now.

Thanks pmelcher,

I'm aware of Paypal and the maximum I can charge to ship a book.

But one of things I found enabled in My Ebay preferences was MissionFish. I never enabled it. I looked it up on the internet. It allows sellers to give proceeds from their sales to a favorite nonprofit, and helps nonprofits raise funds by selling on eBay too.

And I don't know if I have to set up Paypal's 'Set Up Shipping Calculations'. It's under 'Profile' ... 'Selling Preferences' on the Paypal site. I called a friend in Florida and picked his brain, but he said he never set it up. My friend sells internationally, but I only sell in the USA. Do you know if I need to set it up if I only accept payment in US dollars?

Thanks again, I appreciate!
Lynn
