I'm sick of this already. We're digging out of what we got yesterday and we're to expect an even worse storm??? We're even expecting another 4" tonight and snow straight through. Time to move.

More then happy to accept some here! We had a 2 inch snow STORM in November...another 1 inch one December and this latest one dumped another 2 inches. So, what you see on that railing to the left in ALL we have gotten all winter. The local radio still likes to frighten everyone to help boost grocery and gas sales.

Nice and sunny here in California. There is hardly a sign that it is winter.

No new snow here but it's been so cold that a Twin Cities man felt confident enough to move his 3 story house on the ice across a lake in the metro area ... and made it!

I read about that Neglus! Incredible. We expect to get above freezing for the first time in a long time on Sunday. This weather is just crazy. We already have over a foot of snow and some of the snow banks are over 5 feet tall.

Only in Minnesota will they take a house on Manitou Island on White Bear Lake, (Yes the same White Bear Lake as mentioned in the movie Fargo), wait for winter and move it across on top of the ice to the shore.

Gotta love it !!!!

Finally talked to my brother in Madisonville Ky tonight on his cell phone. Power and phones have been out across the entire county since the ice storm hit Monday. The ice was so heavy and broke so many trees that he says it looks like a hurricane hit there. He and neighbors have been cutting trees since yesterday just to get from their country road to a county road.

Luckily he had called us Monday morning to warn us about the ice storm coming in. We were on the way up there from Florida.

Hopkins county has had so much power line damage that most areas are expected to be without power for 2 to 3 weeks or more. Not good news for this area because the locals are not used to such outages and it continues to be extremely cold there. Many people are at risk of freezing to death.

With so many roads blocked by trees, people cannnot get out for supplies and emergency personel cannot get in to check on the elderly and disabled.

Send my well wishes to your brother and his family, LtRay. The weather has just been so crazy in January, I can't get over it. We had a very mild November and December. I knew we'd pay for it eventually. I'm just so glad we didn't get ice. Snow I can deal with. Although, we along with many neighbors, lost the gutters on our homes from the weight of the snow. That should be an expensive repair in the spring.

Guess we are lucky. We still have power and not a lot of snow. Unfortunately we had freezing rain on the top of the snow and even though the streets are passable and those sidewalk that were cleared before the freezing rain are mostly still clear the rest of the world is covered with ice. It would not be such a problem except that our elderly, very sick dog is a creature of habit and only wants to do her "business" in one spot in the side yard. It is no way accessible so I have to walk her back and forth in the area of the yard that was cleared before the ice until she finally decides that she can't put it off any longer.

Hope all the eBay Outlookers and family stay safe and warm.

I don't know how many transplanted snowbirds I've talked to over the years. They always say "we feel just like natives now", or something equally absurd, even though they just got here a month ago.... I am very grateful that many of you are staying where you belong to oversee winter survival operations. Keep up the good work!

Never mind what the temperature was this afternoon.......

LOL, prof! It's bright and sunny here right now. Cold, yes. Snowy, yes. However, whenever we can see the sun this time of year, we're grateful. There are a couple of reasons that have kept me here (besides the grandbabies). I love fall. It's my favorite time of the year. There's nothing like the smell of fallen leaves on an autumn night. The weather is warm enough to enjoy the outside with just a light jacket or sweater. The evenings are cool enough that you can sit around a fire outside and be perfectly comfortable. Camping in the fall is the best. Football seems more like football up here in the north. We suffer during the winter, however we seem to appreciate summer and spring more than people living in warmer areas of the country. There's just something special about the first 60 degree day. You can actually see the spring in people's steps. You can almost hear the earth renewing itself after a long winter's sleep.

If I could afford to "winter" in a warmer climate, I would. However, I would still be living up north for the rest of the year.

Well said Cheryl. We have a new vet here who took over from our long time doc who retired. The vet is from Wisconsin. I was gabbing with his wife the other day in town and she said they are sure loving the winter here but she almost didn't make it through last summer. I'll take 110 and dry as a bone over 90 and 90% humidity with bugs as big as your head any day. To each his own

For those who think that our planet isn't in environmental chaos, you might want to start rethinking.

Summers are getting warmer, winters are getting colder, hurricanes are getting bigger, and so on.

shagmidmod - While I won't deny that we've pretty much screwed the planet up, you have to also keep in mind that the earth does go through cycles. It has for millions of years.

Okay, they changed the route of the storm and we were supposed to be spared. Or, so we were led to believe. Anyone else in the path of this one? Looks like no one can do a good job of predicting anything anymore.

We are once again getting dumped on. Another foot of snow is expected here by evening. Once again, Cleveland did not close the schools. What would normally be a ten minute trip to take Tiffany to school took me 30 minutes. This is getting to be just too much!

Gotta love this. . .the snow is coming down fast and furious. However, the weather station is saying the current conditions are 16 degrees and "light snow".

UH OOO! Looks life Maryland is right on the edge of the white area. I don't think we are scheduled for really large amounts. Hope not.
