I just came across this at Stamps.com. This is a new program being tested by the USPS. The Tracers would be great for shipping eBay orders by USPS 1st Class Letter.
"USPS Test Marketing New Service – First Class Tracer
To make it easier for customers to track envelopes with First Class Mail postage, the U.S. Postal Service is testing a new service called First Class Tracer at 50 retail locations near Washington, DC, Maryland and Virginia."

Even just the cheapest Flat Rate Priority. I have had many shipments that cost buyers almost $30 b/c it needs DC when it could be shipped for $10. I am not comfortable shipping items valued $30 or above without some proof of delivery.

I just read this and it is great. If you are a top rated seller, beginning in June '12, they will require tracking on 90% of all items sold. I sell a lot of paper items and cannot afford a 65 cent charge on each item. Problem with this new USPS tracer is that I just read a release from USPS that says that this "test" will run 2 years. That ain't gonna help me in 2 months!
