Must of hit the acceptance stage of grief process with eBay's recent annual changes. There is always a positive side.

1.Sales always increase after eBay does whatever eBay wants to do because other sellers close shop.

2.Forces me too look at the way I am doing business and is there room for improvement and there is always room for improvement.

3.Never a fan on any of eBay's change but thinking back on the last 13 years most have been for the best. Fewer scammers both buyers and sellers I get paid faster no more "check is in the mail". I switched to using tracking 2 months ago and amazingly enough the "I didn't get item" is 0 now and only 1 return as "undeliverable" from the P.O.

Have all the changes been for the best of course not but it is evolving and growing just as I should be.

The up side for me is it takes the pressure off of worrying about the discount. I am not getting it because I refuse to do 1 day shipping & 14 day minimum returns, so I can do my own thing with no anxiety over 1s or 2s in details. Very calming.

merrie - you are right. the irony is that ebay may make 20% more on us, but i think sellers who simply can't provide 1 day service/14 day returns are going to be less motivated to be kept on eBay's short leash of DSRs.

these changes are less about providing better service for customers and more about eBay making more money. that is all it is.

Remember the days of "allow 6-8 weeks for delivery".

I never understood such an absurd amount of time, but 1 day handling is plain ridiculous.

shag, right again. I used to sweat that nasty buyer that gave a 1 or 2 in DSRs for no real reason except meanness or lack of understanding. Now, that is meaningless to me since I have neither the will or the ability to ship in one day every time. Many of my items are shipped in less than 24 hours, but it not going to be something I am going to strive for.

As to the 14 day or longer return policy, I started changing most of my items to NO RETURNS and it has not hurt anything. If the buyer reads the notice, they can still claim INAD and get a refund if they are so motivated.

Life is too short to follow all of Ebay's complicated rules to save 20% on FVFs. They already have their pound of flesh by taking their fees on shipping.

I am not sweating this new round of rules & regs.

Look away from the light. Put down the Kool-aid and run.

I have had one day handling for a long time because that is no problem for us however I had no returns on my items.

I did have a little blurb on my Standard Template that if there were problems then we treat each case individually...blah...blah..

I don't remember ever having any item returned so I changed my Return Policy to 14 days, left my handling at 1 day.

We go on vacation on April 17th to May 17th and on May 31st when the extra 5% ends I will change back to no returns.

In the meantime I am getting the extra 5% discount and consider it a contribution to my Vacation fund!

The way I figure it, I am not going to sweat the new Policy either but I am going to take advantage on MY terms!

I'm very lucky as I have an employee that is ALWAYS home so 1 day shipping has never been a problem. However she doesn't work on my main ID which is mostly large items and furniture.
I will probably take the 14 day returns on all my items. I've alway had a no questions 3 day return policy and get only about 1 return a year - if that.
However, there is just no way I can pack and ship furniture in one day. I also can't give free shipping there.
