ebabe...funny as it has spurred me on to get some more listed on Etsy! I am a huge believer in 'just in case'!
I opened up there in a very small way in July and have had 4 sales. I have held off on Etsy because I am really not into the 'social' side of some of the sites so we will have to see.
I don't think eBay can get much worse than it is.....or can it?? I remember when we were all so pleased to see Meg Whitman go and what we got was far far worse.

Guess we will have to wait and see. I'm hanging on by my fingertips. 15 years and this looks to be the first major decline in sales year to year.
First thing to get rid of is PayPal as the only form of acceptable payment. I salvaged two sales last week from previous buyers that couldn't checkout with a paypal account. How many sales has eBay cost us? This is my business, let me run it.

I was thinking this morning about the employees at eBay, not Management but the regular average daily grind worker.
I wonder how they feel about this and what their thoughts have been over the past few years watching a fun Company change under the Dictatorship.
Way back when, we used to see & hear more about the employees and they were a hard working fun bunch who were having a blast helping all of us and watching 'their' Company rise to fame & fortune.

The biggest problem that eBay has is that they add layers and layers of complexity without removing the things that don't work.
I see this time and time again when I listen to friends and family talk about working in a corporate environment. They hire consultants who sell them on a system, and then they hire another consultant who sells them on another system and before you know it is is a jumbled mess of conflicting systems. Some are just ridiculous.
For example, my mom works at Blue Cross of Florida. They changed the name to "Florida Blue". Now when they answer the phones they say, "thank you for calling Florida Blue, formerly known as Blue Cross of Florida." They had them doing that for two years before someone came along and changed it to something else equally as ridiculous.
That pretty much sums up what is happening at eBay. The CEO's and Board are so disconnected from the average seller because they rely on consultants to tell them what they need, and the reality is that they are selling them what they don't need.

I agree with you, Shag.
For almost 30 years I worked for big Corporations mostly in the Banking & Oil Industry.
I was located in Calgary, Alberta and Head Offices were almost always in Ontario. For many of those years I was in what would be classified as 'Lower & Middle Management' positions. I can't tell you how many hours I spent on the phone & at meetings trying to explain to them the error of their ways! They just tried to make everything so complicated when it could have been handled quite simply.
In 1988 I gave up and went into business for myself...end result was I answered to no one but me and if mistakes were made I had no problem blaming myself and moving on to a method that did work.
I was happier and a lot healthier.

I dont know how many of you have been browsing Ebay forum,so many sellers are being canned, the last one is a guy who has been late paying his bills and Ebay finally said enough is enough.
And many sellers detest the new Paypal policy of 180 days return and signing up with Propay,I wonder how this is going to work when it comes to squabbles.
