As you may already know, I recently moved. I have bought a few items off eBay for my new place including a shower curtain and two notebook sleeves. All were sold as new.

The shower curtain arrived and before I even opened the package I noticed a large footprint on the fabric. Returned.

I then bought a 15" sleeve from a buyer. Supposed to be brand new, but when it arrived it had scuffs and some white/grayish stuff that sort of resembled mildew, but I don't think it was. I returned that as an INAD because the seller didn't offer returns.

It was returned on the 10th and delivered on November 12, over a week ago. No refund. I contacted the seller who stated they never received it.

I checked tracking and it showed they received it, though on eBay it showed "In Transit". The seller then stated tracking showed it was delivered in Virginia when they are in Maryland. I checked the tracking number and note that eBay showed an incorrect number. I sent him the correct tracking that still showed it was delivered to him in Maryland on the 12th.

Finally, after 8 days the seller issued a refund after confirming the correct tracking number. Their response, "We just issued your refund.
It seems like the tracking number shown on eBay return is not correct. That's why we couldn't see it on our eBay account.
As mentioned earlier, our priority is to see happy customers. Your positive feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks again..."

I understand there was an error with the tracking number, but the end result is the same. The correct tracking number shows the item was delivered on the 12th still. The seller still received the item on that date, but lied that they didn't. I don't intend to write negative feedback, but I want them to think about what they told me. If you're an honest seller, then you issue the refund based on receiving the item back, not what eBay tracking shows. This is my response -

"The issue I have with this is that you actually received it on the 12th, even if the tracking number that was on eBay was incorrect. So, what you are telling me is that you go by what eBay shows on a transaction instead of the fact that you actually have had the item back in hand for over a week.

I'm not sure how positive feedback is justified if you can't track your returns knowing that you already have the item. You went as far as to claim you didn't receive the item, so now that you see tracking you somehow received it? I hope you see the fallacy in your statement."

Buying on eBay is tricky for sure.

It is for sure that there are a lot of bad sellers on eBay.
If it keep going the way it is now - that maybe all there is left.

Ugh!

I bought a set of studio photo lights. Everything was great except it was missing 2 out of the 10 bulbs. I didn't file an INAD, I just contacted the seller who was very nice to send 2 bulbs.

I bought a messenger bag on eBay. New they cost $130. I got it for $50 including shipping. "Gently used and in great shape." It was very nice looking. I would say the condition was accurate, but the problem is that the flap on the bag curls up on it. I filed an INAD to send it back.

I'm done buying on eBay unless it is brand new, and even then I need to be careful. This is getting ridiculous. I'm really shocked to have so many problems.

there is a lot of INAD and INR going on,so many disputes and EBAY is using its robots to handle them.
Once the item is returned and seller does not refund,Robot would do it for him.
BUyers return empty box, rocks and missing parts or sometimes entirely different items and Ebay robots just approve the return.
Calling Ebay wait time is like 45 minutes and up.
Then there are sellers who sent items overseas with inadequate tracking,no insurance no signature confirmation and lost their shirts a $600 Iphone6 to Russia,to Mexico.
It seems pretty easy to steal on Ebay.

It seems that to be able to sell successfully on EBay ,you have to sell cheaper than the retail stores,so where do sellers find their items, garage sale, dumpster and liquidation and storage?
these items may look new ,but how long have they been sitting around ,could be exposed to extreme heat, radiation, dropped from high places, kicked around, yeah, they are new with tag and sealed?
if you have that machine ,you can seal anything?

EBAY has come up with many rules, restricting sales and withholding payments.
I am getting the impression the good sellers with good merchandise have left and it is becoming a flea market of cheap stuff.
I used to see some rare antiques and nice jewelry with good pictures, now it looks like a cheap fleamarket and the pictures taken with a cell phone are terrible.
It is no longer enjoyable to shop on Ebay, although you can still find some bargains, but have to take your chances.

From what I am reading on the Facebook eBay & Amazon re-seller pages Amazon FBA folks seem to being doing really good compared to folks selling on eBay who seem to overwhelmed dodging defects and scammers. I am looking into moving in that direction and the reviews seem positive. My guess is everyone is moving the new stuff to the river (Amazon) rather then stay with eBay and be up the proverbial creek.

what is River?
is that a new site?
Ebay is suspending /restricting sellers left and right due to the new defect system.
I have one seller id which is in grace period till march 2015,so I thought I would close it now.
Well, they told me I cant close it since I have other IDs which are selling and this one will drag the others down.
So what should I DO?
Well,keep listing?
But I said this bad ID has low visibility and keep listing would not help? if I cant sell anything and even if I do,buyers are slow to leave feedback?
Well,keep listing,keep listing?
I am getting tired of Ebay,on other sites buyers dont run to the post office and ask how much is my postage and then give me a defect?
USPS postal clerk does not know DC is extra and gas and wear and tear on the car?
It turns out that this buyer is also a seller, she would ship a small package charging 3.95 but ship priority,$6.95??

Sorry, "The river" is slang for Amazon.

Thanks,so now I know,RIver is AMZN.
The problem with listing on AMZN is that you need the manufacturer serial number to list and many Ebay collectibles do not have one.
Unless you are willing to pay for a store.
