We sold a postcard this afternoon which was paid for immediately followed by this message:-

"Dear otteropp,

Hello: Payment has now been deposited directly to your PayPal account. Thank you in advance for your attention to packing! Please ship through post office and use stamps IF POSSIBLE. I try to get used stamps for the local youth collectors. Feedback is very important to me. Recently a number of sellers have been extremely slow to post, some as much as almost 2 months after the transaction. Once you have received your payment and are satisfied, please post your feedback right away. Upon receipt of item I will do likewise. Please let me know when you ship my item. Good communication is always appreciated and is reflected in a feedback category. Thank you. Bruce XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

It made me chuckle! It may take me a while to consider the content of my reply!

Sounds professional to me. I wouldn't be offended

Oh...I am not offended at all. I thought it was very welll written.

I just chuckled because it was the type of 'note to Seller' that we had been discussing last week.

I needed time to consider my reply just to make sure it is written in the same vein.

They probably cut & paste for all of their purchases.

The stamps part would not fly with me even if a small item.

The issue I see here is that they are placing additional expectations on the seller. It's walking a thin line of feedback extortion - if you do this you will get this in return, if you don't, then what?

I didn't have an issue with it as everything that they asked for I do anyway. The only thing I do differently is that I don't post the Feedback until after I have mailed the package.
I told him this in my reply and he sent me a note back that he was fine with it and was thrilled with my personal reply.

My guess is that he has dealt with a few very sloppy Sellers in the past. This is his reaction to that.
In the same way that we Sellers are inclined to react after we have been burned by a Buyer and we change our requirments or some other little thing in our listings to try and avoid any other Buyer doing the same.

I just thought it was cute as we had been talking about this type of note to Seller.

If I had an extra stamp, I would include it in the package but I would not change my shipping routine. It could cost you with eBay, not to mention maybe having to standing in a long lines at the PO.

After reading this again, there does seem to be a great deal of emphasis on prompt feedback.

Not comfortable with someone telling me when I should leave feedback.
