What does this mean? for users of VENDIO?

Starting in October 2017, Google Chrome—the browser used by almost half of all eBay buyers—will begin displaying the message "Not Secure" in the address bar when users visit standard HTTP pages or HTTPS pages that include non-secure HTTP content.

You have listings that contain or link to HTTP content, and we encourage you to remove this content from your listings immediately. If you're not sure which of your listings contain HTTP content, you can use the i-ways tool to identify them. We have partnered with i-ways to implement an eBay sign-in that protects your full inventory from being available publicly.

What is eBay doing to help?
We believe that the "Not Secure" message may deter buyers from purchasing and impact your conversion rate. To prevent the "Not Secure" message from appearing, we're changing the desktop buying experience starting this October. Listings that contain or link to HTTP content after that time will have one-click item descriptions—a snippet of the description will be visible, and buyers will have to click to see the full description. The mobile experience will remain unchanged.

If you prefer for the full item description to display in your listings, we recommend that you update your listings and remove HTTP content before October.

Updating listings with HTTP content
Sellers who have non-secure content in their listings should reference the HTTP page within Seller Center for detailed guidance on how to update their listings.

Additionally, eBay has been working with third-party providers to ensure they're ready for this change. Many of them will provide bulk editing options to remove HTTP from your listings. See a list of providers here.

For more information about the specifics of this Google Chrome change, follow this link.

As always, thank you for selling on eBay.

Hello,

I as well am concerned about this. For years I have used Vendio as my image host, I also sell used auto parts and some parts do take years to sell.

Anyway, all of my listings I have inserted my own html code that displays the picture, all of my pictures hosted on Vendio have the HTTP at the start of my image address, not, HTTPS.

Ebay is telling us we have to contact the image provider to address the concern, however, they also have you listed as the recommended provider that uses HTTPS.

What, if anything do I need to do with my 5,000 plus listings that contain 50,000 + images, all of which start with HTTP ?

Thanks for your time.

Hello Chetan

To check into further, explain and provide with more information. Here is as much as I can gather on this issue.
Anything you see in ( ) is me speaking.

On September 19th. (THIS WAS POSTED ON EBAY ON SEPTEMBER 19th)
community.ebay.com/t5/Announcements/2017-Fall-Seller-Update/ba-p/27391472 (SUMMARY LINK)
http://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/seller-updates/2017-fall/index.html (DIRECT LINK TO EBAY FALL SELLER UPDATE)

http://pages.ebay.com/seller-center/listing/browser-security-standards.html(STRONGER BROWSER SECURITY LINK FROM EBAY)

Policy Updates (Policy update mentions HTTP / HTTPS)
Removal of off-eBay links, listings security(THIS RIGHT HERE), product identifier expansion, image guidelines, and eBay Catalog update.
Reminder to remove off-eBay contact info and links (IMAGE SECURITY MENTIONED)

In October 2017, convert HTTP content to HTTPS for a secure buying experience(THIS RIGHT HERE IS MY CONCERN)

Secure your listings (THIS IS FROM EBAY UNDER THE FALL SELLER UPDATE FOR THE HTTP/HTTPS)

Beginning October 2017, Google Chrome-the browser used by almost half of all eBay buyers-will begin displaying the message "Not secure" in the browser's address bar when users visit HTTP pages or HTTPS pages that include non-secure HTTP content. In order to protect your sales, your buyer will now see a snippet of the item description and a link that they can click to see the full item description if your listing contains non-secure HTTP content and your buyer is using a desktop computer to view your listing. If you want your listing to show the complete item description, you will need to update the HTTP content. The mobile experience will not change. We're providing you with an eBay-approved tool to check your listings for HTTP content.

Sellers who have non-secure content in their listings should reference this page for detailed guidance on how to update their listings. eBay is also working with third-party providers to prepare for this change. Many of them will be able to provide bulk editing options to update non-secure HTTP content in your listings.

https://bulkchecker.i-ways.net/ebay/en-us/ (LINK TO TOOL EBAY VERIFIED TO CHECK YOUR LISTINGS FOR HTTP CONTENT)

Do your eBay listings display correctly? Check your listings for display and security issues
Secure listings Identify HTTP content and update to HTTPS, which can prevent buyer security concerns by using secure content.

I currently have 5,383 active listings on ebay and am using 53,713 images that are hosted on Vendio.com, every single image from vendio when i click to get the link to add to my ebay listing starts with HTTP, not, HTTPS.
Example:http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/3827089/view/DSCN0679.JPG

I ran this tool that was linked to and approved by ebay, 5,261 of my listings came back with security listings https issues, when you click on the specific listing and cick on details in points out exactly what the issue is and all of them report the image links on vendio are the issue.

Here is one of 5261 item examples, i even used a newer listed item for reference:

Secure listings (HTTPS) issues 5261(when i click to check this it takes me to this page listing all 5261 items)
Security/HTTP issues Security issues Some resources are not HTTPS compliant▾ (When i select the drop down arrow it takes me to the specific item)
ebay item number 232460151552 14-17 Dodge Journey RH - Passengers Side Rear Door EXT Handle Mounting Bracket (When that item is selected it reports this)
Security issues Some resources are not HTTPS compliant▾(When i click this drop down arrow it reports the exact precise issue as the following)
http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/3827089/view/DSCN0638.JPG
http://imagehost.vendio.com/a/3827089/view/DSCN0639.JPG

If a host domain is not compliant with the stronger browser security standards, and you wish for the full item description to be displayed, remove content hosted on that domain from your listing. Once they are HTTPS compliant you can reinstate the content into your listings. If you use a third-party selling solution, contact your provider for assistance in identifying and updating non-secure content, and making your listings HTTPS compliant. If you need additional help, consider using one of the popular solutions listed below, or one of the solutions here.(THIS IS WHY I AM HERE, IT SAYS TO ASK MY PROVIDER, FUNNY THING IS WHEN I CLICK THE SOLUTIONS HERE LINK IT RECOMMENDS VENDIO, AS IF THAT DOES NOT MAKE THE ENTIRE THING MORE CONFUSING)

From what i understand or ebay is trying to say is anything that starts with HTTP and not HTTPS is not secure and will result in a warning to the buyer and not show my images as they are hosted on a site that links to HTTP and not HTTPS content. This would greatly affect me as images play a crucial role in my products. I for sure don't want a potential customer to have to click anything to see a description or several of my images for the item, and, the last thing I want them to see is a security warning message.

Please look into this for and explain what needs to be done so my listings will be compliant. I can provide you with screen shoots of even make a video of anything stated above.

Thanks in advance for your time.

I am also having the same problem with the photos not being secure. They currently have http instead of the correct https. Will Vendio be updating our photos to include the extra secure content, or is this something I will have to do manually. If my photos do not get this update I am worried that it will greatly affect my sales, as the photos are vital to my products.
Thank you,
Tom

Just an FYI. The trouble is if you have a "paypal seal" in your description you need to remove it. it looks like this: http://www.paypal.com/en_US/i/icon/verification_seal.gif
Go into your settings and remove it on all future listings.
The only you can remove it on PRESENT listings is manually go into the HTML and delete it.
