Dick Cheney was very much against going after Saddam in '91 as well. Back then he said:

"If you're going to go in and try to topple Saddam Hussein, you have to go to Baghdad. Once you've got Baghdad, it's not clear what you do with it. It's not clear what kind of government you would put in place of the one that's currently there now. Is it going to be a Shia regime, a Sunni regime or a Kurdish regime? Or one that tilts toward the Baathists, or one that tilts toward the Islamic fundamentalists? How much credibility is that government going to have if it's set up by the United States military when it's there? How long does the United States military have to stay to protect the people that sign on for that government, and what happens to it once we leave?"

Here is another quote from Dick in 1991:
"For us to get bogged down in the quagmire of an Iraqi civil war would be the height of foolishness."

Absolute faith has been shown, consistently, to breed intolerance. And intolerance, history teaches us, again and again, begets violence.
----------------------------------
The duty of a patriot in this time and place is to ask questions, to demand answers, to understand where our nation is headed and why. If the answers you get do not suit you, or if they frighten you, or if they anger you, it is your duty as a patriot to dissent. Freedom does not begin with blind acceptance and with a flag. Freedom begins when you say 'No.'

Dicky should have followed his words.

10 U.S. Troops Slain in Iraq Bloodshed
Pentagon Says 69 Troops Killed in October Violence

2,782 total dead American Troops.

20,687 total wounded American Troops.

335 Billion Dollars of American Tax payers money already spent in Iraq and still counting.

THE GOOD NEWS IS IN ABOUT 3 WEEKS AMERICANS CAN START TAKING THEIR COUNTRY BACK.

don't forget that Iraq has taken the eye off of the real "axis of evil", North Korea and Iran.

I said it since before we invaded Iraq. Iraq simply was NOT the threat to American security as the Bush Administration claimed it was. Simply put, GW had plans for Iraq when he was governor. He tried to link Iraq to 9/11, and he lied to the world. Yes, Hussein was an evil leader, but there have been plenty of other evil leaders across this world that the US government never removed from power. America handled its own Revolution and asked for help from other countries. Until the same happened from the Iraqi people, we should have stayed out.

The plan since 9/11 should have been to annihilate the Taliban and Al Qaeda from the face of the earth. Secure America's borders, cargo, airline industry, etc. Work towards eliminating the threat of nuclear weapons from Iran and North Korea. The lives lost in Iraq, the money wasted from this war, and the time squandered to work on Iran and NK are the most obvious failures of this Administration. The entire world was with us immediately after 9/11, but GW squandered International support and failed us repeatedly.

Way back in 1991, huh?

ROFLMHO.

Try reading what clinton said in the mid and late 1990's.....when HE passed the 'Liberation of Iraq Act'....that made it our National policy to REMOVE saddam from power, for ALL the same reasons this administration DID remove him.

In 1998 clinton spoke to the Nation about saddam having a womd program and said we needed to remove that threat to US and to his neighbors.

The liberals have FORGOTTEN clinton BOMBED Iraq to get rid of their womd program. Now they deny all this was ever a threat....but rather something 'made up' by only this administration.

What fools they are...to make our security a partisan issue for their own political gain [they HOPE].....rather than being concerned about ALL our lives.

But, of course the liberals, Bush haters, etc....forget all about that. They refuse to recognize that AFTER 9-11 our Nation and MANY things changed. We've entered a brand new era where the terrorists have not only stated their goals are to destroy us/our economy but have actively persued doing just that.

The liberals have fallen asleep....they're in DENIAL ...they think we just need to withdraw from Iraq and all the world will be peaceful. Boy are THEY zoned out of any realm of reality.

Short memories. They've also forgotten about 2001....and want to let those AQ terrorists WIN...by withdrawing our troops from Iraq....where we're fighting the AQ and other terrorists.

They don't want to give Iraq a chance to get their new FREE government on it's feet so they can keep these terrorists from taking over Iraq. Nope...they want the US to RUN with our tails between our legs...and let the TERRORISTS win.

A vote for the dems next month.....is to guarantee they'll do just that....admit defeat and give the terrorists the pleasure of declaring they won against liberty, freedom and all we stand for. That's their problem....they're more on our enemies side than they are on ours.

While the democratic party complains about everything THIS President does to protect our Nation:

What would a Democrat president have done at that point? Apparently, the answer is: Sit back and wait for the next terrorist attack.

Looks like Linduh seems to think leaving Iraq admits defeat. Ironic, considering "Mission Accomplished" and the declaration of the end of major combat operations by GW. What's my point??? The simple fact that the United States already won in Iraq. It was this Administration that made those declarations, it was this Administration that decided to go to war in the first place, it was this Administration that decided to ignore Army General recommendations to send overwhelming forces to not only win, but to keep the peace after victory. As far as I am concerned, George W. Bush did only one thing... He cut and run from his obligation to our soldiers and the American people.

Clinton didnt decide to invade Iraq after the 9/11. It was Bush, Cheney and company. Regardless of what Clinton said, it was just that, a policy. There was no plan for war, there was no plan to set up a democracy in Iraq.

Bush had Saddam removed but after that Bush did not have a plan.

Besides there are multiple ways of removing a person from power WITHOUT going to war.

Do not know the difference between a policy and a plan of action?

rusty...I don't believe, for even a nano-second, that you're the LEAST bit concerned about ANY of our troops. NONE. You're a radical liberal and they don't support our military to begin with. They don't want recruiters on THEIR campuses. They are against defending this nation.... You and your ilk just USE our troops to futher your own anti-American agenda.

You talk a good talk....but I'd place my bet YOU have and never would serve your country. But you sit there PLAYING arm-chair quarterback like you actually KNOW more than our military leaders do. THIS President has stated over and over again...he FULLY supports what our leaders on the ground over there ask for. IF they'd wanted more troops they'd have had them. THEY DIDN'T.
And this President recently said...he allows those leaders on the ground over there to tell him what should be done. He's allowing THEM to do THEIR job.

You're a coward....who goes on and on against what BOTH democrats and republican's, NOT just this administration, made a decision to do.

And they BOTH NOT ONLY made that decision...but have recently VOTED to stay there ....not retreat...not admit defeat.

And yet you go on and on with your dribble and in your total denial about that FACT...and rattle on about how it's ONLY this President, this administration....when in FACT...it's NOT. IT'S MOST OF THE DEMOCRATS TOO.

Come back to reality....just for a short while rusty.

logan....yes, that's right. THIS President actually DID something more than give LIP SERVICE about the terrorist who ATTACKED our National interests FIVE TIMES during his administration. FIVE TIMES....and not much was done about it.

AFTER 9-11...we were in a much different situtation....the terrorists had NOW actually carried out a much BIGGER attack on US.

Dems don't have the GUTS to do what needs to be done WHEN our Nation is attacked. They want to TALK about it some more.

Just like you, lindak? You've never served but you've sat here for years flying on your son's service and supposedly all he did was sit at a desk away from all combat while you put down everyone else and acted as if you were equal to any military person out there on the front lines.

Give up the taunts about others serving because YOU haven't done so, in fact you didn't even know that women were serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Take off Linduh... no one likes you here or wants you here.. so bugger off.

Liar_K,

Don't worry your failed republican leaders are getting ready to (save face) by standing in front of a flag and saying, America did its best to give Iraq Democracy.

This administration will blame Iraq for its failures. They will say the U.S. and this administration gave Iraq a Democrat government and Iraq is too divided for their new government to work.

The good news is in just a few days America can start taking their country back.

SOON AMERICA WILL BE ABLE TO START TAKING POWER AWAY FROM THE "EVIL DOERS",CROOKS AND PERVERTS CALLED NEO-CON REPUBLICANS. YES!!!

Where is your military experience Linda. You have absolutely none yourself so stop talking like you are some sort of combat veteran. Sticking your dainty little toes onto a military base does not make you any more qualified.

And this President recently said...he allows those leaders on the ground over there to tell him what should be done. He's allowing THEM to do THEIR job.

Bush lets everyone else makes decisions for him. This president has no combat experience and very little military experience to begin with. So in my opinion Bush has no choice to let others make decisions because he knows squat about combat readiness or planing. Perhaps if he didnt try to cut and run from his Vietnam duty he might be a more effective President.

Do we have to lower ourselves to name calling?

Now then, War is not a game, world politics is not a game. Things change every minute of every day.

Clinton knew what a threat Saddam was and took the actions we thought were right at the time. I'm sure if he had to do it over again, we would have been in Iraq much sooner.

We had lost our credibility by the end of the Clinton administration. We had lost our bark and couldn’t use our bite thanks to the likes of Carter.

George W. Bush stood up to the Middle East’s bullsh*t and did something. Was it the right thing to do? Only time will tell.

If Al Qaeda wasn’t in Iraq; they would have been there shortly.

WOMD? We knew they had them but the intelligent reports were incorrect. Not just ours but the Brits, Russians and many others.

Was all this a ruse to go into Iraq? Maybe it was and if so it was for the security of America and all other free nations.

Now then, Rusty is Logan= Cindy?

Well thank you for clarifying that Classy.
I will be sure not to name names when I make observations in the future.

When I observe the old lol hag, or the semi-literate who thinks his three word chants are so very clever..or the old geek who thinks he is a real comic, or perhaps the one with the fried brain who fancies himself a cult leader..I will leave it to everyone's imagination to put a name to my observations..that way I won't be calling names.

Linda didn't run away. Her military unit just got called up and she had to run off to active duty. Linda is heading over to Iraq to help fight all the insurgents.

I was told you were two-faced and full of sh*t and I disagreed.

Of course I found out just how true that was after I left OTWA. I still had a way to view.

Colin, you don't know anything about me. Since you are so fascinated and obsessed with gay men and continue to talk about them and appliances and battery operated boyfriends here I can only surmise that you have a few sexual problems you need to deal with. Perhaps you should discuss those problems with your wife or others that post on your board instead of skulking back here to insult me and Maggie.
