The Veterans Parade outside our store reminds me of when I was a child and my father who served in the Marine Corps would take me to the Veterans Parade in Michigan. The cold November air, leaves on the ground, retired and active duty servicemen and women in uniform, the 21 gun salute at the cementary. It has always been a reminder of the dedication, service, and commitment of our military.
Today is also a reminder to everyone to continue to support our veterans, not only by the American flag outside your door, but by verbally thanking them, supporting veteran benefits whenever legislation is put forward, and discussing it with friends and families. Words are important, but action is divine. Thank your vets by giving them all the support they need and deserve.

Classic- There is a huge misconception about us liberals, and just as you say, "I wish your friends here would be so grateful," I can very easily say that most Americans, even those you may disagree with politically are extremely grateful for our military personnel and have the utmost respect for them. It is easy for people like Linda to point fingers and accuse liberals of being anti-American, because people that are shallow minded have no concept of our point of view.
I have always supported our military. My family is full of people who served this country in the military, many friends who didn't want to work in auto parts factories in Michigan are in the Navy and Army. I used to work on NAS Jacksonville while attending college. I have been around the military most of my life.
From my perspective, my honor of our military is to preserve their lives by NOT sending them to a war that I don't believe in. It isn't that I don't support the people that serve, but rather I simply didn't think their lives should have been put on the line for this particular cause. I supported going into Afghanistan, I supported Desert Storm, I supported our work in Bosnia, and the removal of Manuel Noreiga from Panama.
I think you will find many progressives liberals who would be willing to go and fight themselves to preserve the freedoms of this country. What I find unpatriotic is when someone questions our patriotism because we may not agree with a particular policy. There is no reason why any American should come under fire for disagreeing with the actions of our President. They should be respected for their opinions instead of having those opinions called into question. Liberals want the same as Conservatives do... They want to have the best America possible, we simply don't always agree with how to accomplish that.

Yes, people 'like Linda' have a very hard time reading posts from anti-war liberals who call our troops WARMONGERS...murderers....killers....terrorists....as MANY liberals here have done....and as has been done by those ultra liberals in our own Congress.
I don't EVER mis-understand THEIR statements...their anti-military posts....nor their agreement with NOT allowing military recruiters to seek out VOLUNTEERS who want to serve this great nation of ours.

But today I honor ALL the troops, both men AND women....
I honor the memory of my Democrat Father who fought in WWII, and my Mother, both of whom made huge sacrifices and went through many hardships during the war.
I honor all those who went into battle for this country...and I always have.
They fought for things like freedom of speech, freedom to disagree with their leaders, freedom to determine their own destiny.

But you came in and started your usual hate-mongering which escalated into calling others anti-American because they don't share your political views. Truthfully, you have no understanding of the way we feel because you say over and over that you're not interested in what we say.
