Anybody have any experience with this site? It looks kinda different because it is all auctioneers' events. Any one out there ever bought from 'em?

http://www.bidspotter.com/

Looks like an interesting site. Someday soon those live webcasts of auctions will get very popular as high speed connections and powerful computer continue to gain in numbers.
Those live webcast aucions will make the online auctions not seem like real auctions to all of those that haven't been to a real auction.

yeah- they suck. they have no customer service, you can never hear the sound, its impossible to log in to their site, and when you try to call someone for customer service you reach some guy at his house with kids screaming in the background. they suuuuuuuuuuck- stay away from them. try ebay live if you want to test out the format.

I am in total disagreement with captauctioneer!!

I have used this beneficial service quite a few times and have always received excellent customer service from bidspotter.

They have a really nifty live support system built into their website now and a message area for registered and unregistered bidders alike to voice their concerns and share their auction experiences.

Not sure if captain is even talking about the same service, because I have had nothing but an awesome experience with them. It is almost like being on the live auction floor.

When I first tried the service, I was a bit concerned, but from the first email I sent to their support department to the last auction I bid in, it has been nothing but top notch!

Give this one a try at least once and you will be hooked!!

Any other sites out there that have machine shop equipment?

I cannot vouch for machine equipment auctions on bidspotter. I have bid mainly on farm toys and collectibles.

I have won 32 items so far on bidspotter on 6 different auction company's auctions. My first was a farm toy auction with Theurer.

I have noticed they have a lot of industrial type auctions but have not had any interest in that type of auction. I suppose the main difference between the collectible auctions I enjoy and the equipment type auctions would be shipping and of course the amount of money someone would spend.

One thing I really like is that they post the auction results for internet winners. Have not really seen any one else do that.

If you live near any decent size city there should be local live machine shop equipment auctions as machine shops go belly up fairly often or they update their stuff. It seems like the lack of high shippinng costs would make the local auctions more attractive too.
The technology to make live auctions feasible is either here or very near and now more and more computer users are getting the lastest powerful computers and high speed connections to make it a reality. It should be much more fun than a regular 3 to 10 day auction format.
Years ago, I use to watch the San Jose Flea Market auction on TV and it was a great show ( till they got busted selling rabbit coats as genuine mink fur coats ). The auctioneers knew how to use comedy, BS, emotion, etc. to get the crowd into the swing of things. They constantly sold fake jewelry and perfume at $1 a pop to get the bidders primed up for buying stuff. There was a lot of psychology in selling items and working the crowd .... "What are you gonna give me boys? .... can I hear an opening bid of $200 for this genuine mink coat".

they suck- no getting around it. i used them twice and it was not good. a greta place for machine equipment is ritchie brothers- they have a system that works much better and they have people to help you oif you need it. when i wanted a press on bidspotter i couldn't even get logged in and it was the auction house who had to help me out. for anyone new to these kinds of auctions ebay is a good palce to start for ebay type products and ritchie is the best for equipment. you can also try dovebid. they have computers and equipment etc and they take your bid on teh phone.

What did you do to contact the company? They have been most helpful to me whenever I needed it! I have both called them and emailed them and had a very fast response from someone on their staff.

Not sure if you tried to even reach anyone, because service has always been exemplary. I am going to be bidding live again this weekend and will have a smile on my face the whole time!

My take is bidspotter.com is an awesome service and if I were you cap, I would shoot them an email or give them a call and see if they can help you get rid of the bad taste in your mouth.
