Hi all:

With all the reports of PayPal "restricting" entire accounts rather than single transactions as defined in its own terms of service, I was wondering whether you've been leaving large sums in your PayPal account or making withdrawals on a regular basis to minimize your risk.

My own practice to is to request a check from my personal account -- there's no way PayPal is going to have access to my checking account given their repeated breaches of fiduciary responsibility as reported in this and other newsgroups -- whenever its more than $50 from auction sales, leaving only about $20 for auction buys.

So what are you doing?

I had been leaving about $15 in to cover a single auction purchase, but right now I am taking it out. Except for today, when I can't get onto the site...

Am I contributing to Paypal's float? Not anymore. Especially after reading that they stretched all the way back to May to restrict someone's account. How long are we supposed to be on the hook for a transaction?

I used to leave money in my account figuring that hey! these people are giving me a service so the least I can do is leave some money in there for them to float. Now I remove the payments as soon as they hit my account and keep my account at zero.

I have also removed my main e-mail address from my PayPal account so that funds can not "accidently" be sent to my account from an auction winner.

Don't be foolish and leave any money
in your paypal account. They can restrict your account and freeze your money. Furthermore, they still will collect money from others letting your balance grow and you can not withdraw or even send money.
I know I have been restricted since 9-22-00.
Question is if you do not ship products, then
you leave yourself at risk to receive neg.
feeback on Ebay..

Once your are restricted the real experience starts. You will find out real quick what
paypal is worth... (Not Much)...
No customer support, no answers. You will
will find out..
