I am at my wits end with Paypal. Last month they "did some work" and while so doing managed to remove one digit from my Verified Xcom band account link. To make a long story short, (because I am so tired of telling this story over and over), this caused a check to bounce I wrote on my Xcom account. After finding this out, there was nothing I could do but sit here and wait for it to bounce the second time. Paypal did fix the link, "after blaming me for changing it", but has done nothing about the bounced check or the fees I was charged. I have made about a dozen phone calls, to both Xcom and Paypal. Paypal doesn't know what Xcom is doing and Xcom doesn't know what Paypal is doing. I finally resorted again last week to Emailing Paypal about the problem. They told me that unfortunately I couldn't take care of this without calling and speaking to them. I called immediatly, and got the same canned message that they had too many calls already and couldn't talk to me. I did finally get through, and got more of the same junk.

Paypal will not allow me to be indebt to them, or anyone else for that matter. And Xcom was going to destroy my credit if I did not pay the fees. Now, that my link works again and I have paid Xcom, no one seems to care about what I am out. I used to really like Paypal, this whole experience has just been toooo much! I am out about $70 And....the check that bounced was to the Post Office for postage. Since I sell full time for a living I cannot afford to get on the side I have been forced on by Paypal. Please tell me what I am to do? Just take the loss, and keep on going with Paypal?

Kinda makes you miss the days of the "Passbook Account".

There is always a price to pay for technology.

The price for the industrial revolution was increased pollution, increased urbanization resulting in increased crime, and a move from craftmen to laborers.

The price for online banking (in your particular case) is $70.

There are many options available for accepting payments. Look at alternatives. If you have a lot of credit card sales, consider your own merchant account. (not the BS online thieves, but a real one with your bank or Novus) Even if the rates are slightly higher than Paypal's current rate, you have the ability to verify the buyer's billing address, appeal disputed charges, and decline a sale if you are not confortable. The result is more control and better sleep.

Remember that many of us were doing this (selling on the internet) long before there was a PayPal.

The only way to protect your rights when there is a bank error is to write to them and send it registered with a return receipt.

Explain why you are disputing the bounce charges. As Xcom is a bank, they have to respond, you'll have to take it from there depending on the response.

viaastra: just a minor point/question. Wouldn't they have to contact Western Federal Bank (or whatever its name is) that handles the banking for X.com? My understanding is that X.com doesn't actually do banking, it is handled by Western Federal. They might get farther contacting the bank directly and avoiding X.com who obviously has no clue.

Don't know if it would be appropriate in your case, or even if you would be interested, BUT --

-- apparently there is an attorney involved with a few other PayPal victims working on a class action suit. Don't have the specifics, but you might poke around over at the OTWA boards (you can reach them from Honesty.com) in the PayPal forum.

Good luck. Let us know how it turns out.

Class action lawsuits are done on a contingency basis- which means no out-of-pocket expenses to you. I also have the contact info for the attorneys who are considering this action.

dsgn,

I have something that might work. I used it a couple years ago in a similar situation where someone would refused to ship to my PO Box.

I used the street address of the my Post Office and used my Box number so that it looked like an apartment number.

Got my package just fine and no longer did business with that someone.

You might want to give that a try. Just don't use the 9 digit zip code if your last four are the same as your PO Box number. Just give them the regular 5 digits.

Hope it works.
