AUTHENTIC: This is the original vintage Douglas DC-6 magazine advertisement. This is the extremely rare 1946 larger colorized version, not the smaller blk/wht/red version.
IMPORTANT: This is not an unauthorized cheap photo copy or worthless digital reprint. Originals continue to increase in value while copies remain undesirable for investment purposes. Celebrity Ads & Covers have always been part of the popular collectible genre.
MM DOUGLAS DC-6 AD: In 1946, Norma Jeane Baker AKA Norma Jeane Dougherty age 19, later known as Marilyn Monroe, did a photo shoot for an ad campaign for the Douglas Aircraft Corporation. The Douglas DC-6 Airplane Ad Campaign from 1946 is the first time she appeared in an advertisement. She was on a few magazine covers as an unknown beauty that year and she also was on the cover of the Douglas Airview Magazine. That rare issue, when you can find it, sells for $1000-$2000+.
* MUST HAVE: This beautiful color magazine ad from that same 1946 campaign is very hard to find and is a MUST HAVE for any real Marilyn Monroe collector. MM is holding a bunny toy sitting next to the lady with the baby.

MM DOUGLAS DC-6 AIRVIEW HISTORY
The DC-6 was Douglas' first new postwar passenger transport. The DC-6, like its equivalent, the Boeing Stratocruiser (based on the C-97 military transport), was advertised as being able to "fly over the weather." To help market the new airplane, Douglas public relations staff photographed models inside the DC-6 cabin. Among them was Norma Jeane Baker before she was known as Marilyn Monroe. The demand for the DC-6 vastly exceeded sales estimates.
