WES CRAIG ORIGINAL Navajo Bracelet
Now a bit of history for those who don't
know about Wes Craig.
Navajo artisan, Wes Craig, brother to
Hyson Craig (another Artisan) were both
VERY popular in the 1980s and the top
Navajo jewelry designers. Now they
have become QUITE collectible.
This bracelet weighs well over 2 ounces
of .925 (Sterling) Silver and is so marked.
The beautiful amethyst is approx 12mm x 10 mm
or for those of us who DON"T do metric (;-))
just over 1/2" wide and 3/8" high.
The cuff measures 5/8" wide and inside 6 1/2".
This measurement can be made slightly
smaller or larger as needed.
Inside the cuff you'll find a Feather with the
Artist's HALLMARK and the number 83 in it.
To the right of the feather is the word
STERLING. Also inside the cuff in bright
green are the letters CSKY and number 149.
The green does not rub off and seems to be
covered with a clear coat of some kind. I do
not know the significance of the green writing.
The Craig brothers are well respected, Native
American artisans for the discerning collector.
A book called "Hallmarks of the Southwest"
by Barton Wright will verify Wes Craig's
hallmark on page 55.
