TREACY LOWE is a vintage hippie era label from London circa 1970s. The designers were a husband and wife duo, Kathleen Lowe [Howden] and her husband Kenneth. Like their contemporaries, OSSIE CLARK AND CELIA BIRTWELL, this husband and wife designer team created distinctive print dresses and gowns that captured the essence of the hippie glam era.

The dress is made from a fine quality silk charmeuse, which is imprinted with a border print in shades of blue -pink -turquoise  paisley on a solomon- orange  background.

The border is worked into the design at the V-neckline with buttons and silk cord to tie up . And the hemline is finished with  two rows of paisley -lace-design.

The dress features a loose - floaty - bodice . The sleeve is  more sheer without underlying silk coverage( as on the corps of the dress-is double layer of silk-printed and -non printed ) with cuff ending and 3 buttons closure.

The dress is fully lined in a solomon one color silk crepe de chine fabric.

The dress is made in India for Treacy Lowe London. Kathleen Lowe began her career as a buyer for Marshall Field's Import Bazaar line, and relied upon those international connections, long before the world was an accessible global marketplace, to have her distinctive and beautiful textiles created in India.
