Mission Statement My mission statement is two-fold. I aim to provide Eco-friendly clothing using business practise’s that respect the Earth and environment. As well, 10% of all sales are donated to local women’s shelters to help stop violence against women. Through volunteer work and karate self-defense classes, I help other women and children learn how to defend themselves, gain or re-gain their self-confidence and esteem, and promote physical fitness as a way of dealing with the inevitable anger that is associated with violent situations.
Inspired by history. Vintage clothing inspires my love of nostalgia. Raised by two impeccably dressed parents in the 50s and 60s, manners, etiquette and dressing appropriately were all everyday attitudes. As we head into the second decade of the 21st century, I encounter more and more people who want to turn back to embracing a more gentle past, a simpler way of life, less complicated and less stressful. We may not wish to turn back fully, but we can certainly applaud those who try. Naturally green. Vintage
clothing by default, is Eco-friendly. Vintage is not new, but it is
used clothing. At Some Like it Vintage, I am committed to our
environment by stressing the importance of recycling and using little
or no energy resources. Bio-degradable products are used in our
cleaning processes where possible and Eco-friendly dry cleaners are
sourced. Recycled materials are used as much as possible. Items are carefully chosen to incorporate function, practicality, wear-ability -- and of course high style. The quality of vintage clothing often surpasses anything made today and not only is it environmentally friendly, it is a fun and unique way to shop! Love our dresses but can't find one in your size? Please contact us! Giving back to the community. In 2002, I was held hostage by my then fiancé, tortured and beaten. (Full story as published in Romantic Homes Magazine can be read here). It was an 18 month ordeal that when I was finally rescued by the local police, was left to deal with extreme post-traumatic stress. Not being able to work I needed to deal with many emotional issues, not one of which was anger. This I dealt with through martial arts training where I continue to train today having attained my 2nd degree black belt. Volunteering weekly at a local women’s shelter where I cook dinner, give self-defense workshops and sit on the Social Justice Advisory Committee to the Board of Directors, this little slice of the web is my way of giving thanks.
