Mouse CYE.
It is good that you are feeling so much better about being at work again. Sometimes we can let fear halt us from doing things, but once we take the final plunge it never seems to be as bad as we had first feared. I think that is how it was with you going back to work. I also think your husband could be right about you not being put off. Take it one day at a time and things will all work out fine, I am certain of it. Wow the office staff has been savaged hasn't it, a quarter of them getting the boot. That doesn't sound very good at all.

The whole plant has been devastated since I've been gone. I can't even begin to imagine the percentage of people that have been laid off the past year. It makes me wonder if they are considering shutting down our division. They sold my old division, fortunately after I left!

I am going to have to leave you for tonight Mouse, it is getting late here and I have to be up very early in the morning. Greg has to go to Gympie for a funeral in the morning and he will have to leave here by 5 am to get there in time for the service. I have to get his suit out and ready for him to take.
Actually he has to do a delivery then go to his brother's to shower and dress, he will leave the truck at his brother's house and go up with him. I don't expect to see him untill late tomorrow night. When he gets together with his cousins they act like little kids' or farm hicks. I am not sure which. LOL
Your email just came through, so I will read it then I am off to bed. So I will say Goodnight and I will talk to you later.

Gympie? Is that the real name of a town?
Oh WOW I did a search and found out it IS and it is in the Cooloola region. These names must be from the natives language right?

yes Gravid you are correct it is an Aboriginal name.....but please do not ask me what it means because I do not have a clue.
My husband was born in Gympie, it is a country town in South East Queensland, and it is surrounded mainly by farming properties. Cattle, small crops ect. Fron where I live it is about a 3 - 4 hour drive up the coast. Have you heard of Noosa or the Sunshine Coast, that is the same area that Gympie is in.
The one thing that Gympie was or I suppose still is famous for is that it was a gold rush town, way back in the 1800s'. It did reopen a gold mine in the mid 90's, I can not remember the exact year, and I think that mine is still operating today.

If I have done that correctly it should be a clickable link I hope. LOL I always have to stop and think if I have done it right.

Very interesting - another language difference. We don't use the term fossicking . Never heard it before. We say panning or prospecting. usually by dredging and often with a sluice instead of a pan. The people here use electronic sensors that can find a nugget underwater or as deep as 6 foot or 2 meters down in the earth. They can flip a couple switches and compare readings and say No don't bother - it is steel junk not gold.

I think these days all miners use electronic machinery to find whatever they are looking for, be it gold or coal ect. The days of panning are long over except for the tourist industry, they actually make big money with the tourists wanting to join the gold rush and find a chunk of shiney stuff. LOL We may be a young country by some standards but we are not a backward country.
Okay is anyone around, give me a hoy if you are. I will pop back in shortly.

Sorry nettak I didn't mean to sound like I thought your country was backward. Actually I know that any technology that generates income will be around the world in months no matter where it is from.
The tourists still go by eyeball but there are individuals not companies that make their living - and some do very well - looking for gold with hand held electronics. The main problems are not finding it but the mining laws and enviromental laws to be followed here. Sometimes you can understand why. My Dad was in an area out west in the US and there was a really bad area of road in this one mountinous area. When he asked about it in town he was told someone filed a mineral claim for the road and stripped all the dirt off down to the bedrock and then dumped the dirt back without grading it and restoring it to the original conditiopn. They said his claim superceded the town's rights to the land as roadway. Doesn't seem right to us.
Of course some countries down in South America they basically have no protections.

Oops my turn to say sorry, I did not mean it like that Gravid, it is just my Aussie humor running amok. It takes a bit to get used to us, and we say things that other countries do not always understand, or they think we mean something totally different to what they mean.
I would hate to work in any of the mining fields because they are just so dangerous. We have a friend who almost died a couple of years ago in a mine collapse, some did lose there lives and one young fellow had his legs amputated to save his life. It is a hard life, Oh I know that they get good money for what they do, but really is any amount of money enough when you constantly put your life in the lap of the gods. I don't think that part would be any different in your country than it is in ours. They all seem to operate the same way these days.

Nettak - a bit of both, plus some stressy things in my personal life. It was just getting too much. I'm going to try to take at least a month off before even thinking of looking for another job.
I'm just tired of going from one dead end job to another So, another thing I will seriously look at is going back to university. I feel like I need a complete career change...
I'll be making a few enquiries next week to see if uni will be an option...

Go for it, but make sure that you get your information about Uni before it is too late, the year 12 school leavers will be putting in early applications within the next month and a lot of the placements for courses will be taken. So get out and find out your information and act on it soon. Oh have a rest while you are reading an deciding.

Hey Pharlap I think there are two Uni campus's down the Gold Coast isn't there. One of them is I think Bond Uni and if my memory serves me right I think there is a New England campus as well, both of them you can get into a variety of courses. I only know this because my daughter was invited to the New England Uni, but she decided to take her traneeship instead and her boss pays for her tuition and Uni fees, which suits me and saves me a bundle. haha

Yes - there are 2 unis. Bond (read- very expensive and not an option!) and Griffith. I went to Griffith some years ago and it's only a five minute drive for me. Will be going there again if I do decide to return.

Goodnight Mouse, I will not be around for too much longer myself I am trying to get some work done and not getting too far because I keep stopping.
Actually I have to stay up and go and pick the boy and his mate up later off the train. They were with another friend last night and he (the friend) got hauled off by the police because he thought it was funny to put his car sideways up the street. Stupid kid did not even think how dangerous it was and also he was right near the police headquarters in the city. LOL We had to laugh because how stupid can you get. Then they took him for a drug test, and sent him home, he was not even charged, I think they are hoping for drug charges or something. They searched all the boys as well as the car, and came up with nothing, but they asked my son why he had so much money on him. He had $90 and he told them we had given him the money to buy parts for his bike. They were alright to him but apparently they were awful to the other boys, and kept asking where they had drugs hidden. I think it is time to lock these kids' up at home and wait until they are older before letting them out, I am so worried all the time that something will happen to them and with the way the world is today you just never know what is going to happen when they go out.

I should have thought of Griffith, because there is a campus only 4KLM from our house as well, it is turning out to be one of the biggest Uni's around with all the extra campus's scattered around. They even have one out near Toowoomba now.
It will be good if you can get back in especially if it is so close to home for you.
