"The Pope has allowed birth control for some time now." -NearTheSea-

I'll admit to not being a catholic and all, but this is news to me. The last I heard, the pope was still plugging away at the virtues of the rhythm method. Can you please tell me -- if you recall the info, what sorts of birth control the pope has put the church behind now? Can believers use diaphrams and condums, birth control pills and other hormone suppliments to cause birth control, chemical castration, tube tying, etc. You don't have to provide a link, just let me know which ones you remember.

Nobody mentions that Bush may pick up an estimated three million votes by naturalizing mexicans?
Actually Majority Leader Tom Daschle wholly supports the amnesty and said so in a speech at the same convention (see url)where President Fox spoke. He went even further by adding Guatemalans, Nicaraguans, Hondurans, and Haitians adding "there ought not be any exceptions". (San Diego Union Tribune July 17, 2001) When I read that I had the same thought about Democrats trying to add to their voter base.

Foreigners still cannot own coastal property in Mexico. They can purchase land trusts with terms up to 100 years and they can build on the lots, but not own the land. About a year ago, a group of Americans were evicted from a coastal collective in Baja (Punta Banda) and had to abandon the homes they had built due to a battle in Mexican courts over the land ownership pitting a Mexican City family that claimed ownership of the land, and a Mexican real estate developer who had sold the land trusts for 20 years. The Americans had received titles to their land trusts from the Mexican goverment and assurances for the last 20 years that all was in order. But after the Mexico City businessman won his case in the courts, the land was turned over to him and the Americans were ousted, and their homes became his property. The whole thing was hinky and there was nothing the US government could do for the evicted Americans. They lost everything.

But Fox thinks that we should open our borders and offer HIS countrymen everything that HE is not willing to offer ours. Hmm..I don't think so.

Why don't we just make Mexico a state and get it over with.

Why not invade Mexico and conquer it? Bush would be a hero, and we'd have their oil.

krs- That's how we got Texas ! The property ownership must have recently changed. I have a friend whose parents maintained their Mexican citizenship and own a condo in Mexico City. We visited there "cough" "cough", and when I inquired about purchasing property, I was told non-citizens can not purchase real estate in Mexico. This was in 1998.
