That's only a few blocks from the capitol office buildings, even though it's in a state. (DC is not a state) Sheesh.

Oh sheesh yourself.....only you would not find it 'different or odd' for him to get in his car, be driven by someone to take his trash into the state of Virginia to get rid of it just hours before the DC police are going to search his place.

The premise that he had taken the box from his home to the trash directly is pure conjecture. Suppose, for example, that he had purchased the box, or whatever was in it, for the person who was returning him home from Virginia. Then the box, now empty, is superfluous trash and THEY decided to toss it while having a hamburger and looking at the view. Sheeeesh.

Eating a hamburger and watching the view sort of go hand in hand, don't they?

Sort of like being at a drive-in movie.

Watching the boats on the Potomac with taps heard in background, the sound wafting from Arlington as if from far away. Haunting. Beautiful.

I made the comment above about the Potomac River because it is in fact a sewer in which it is not healthy to swim or boat.

I believe that the news media has painted a lovely picture of the Dupont Circle area that does not exist. It is like driving through a war zone at night and I would not drive or walk there alone during the day. Neither would I go to the park that has been searched lately. Bodies are found there on a regular basis.

See, that's part of the problem krs, we don't need to suppose, there are facts. They traced the empty watch box to another one of his girlfriends in San Francisco. She had previously worked for him and admitted they'd also had an affair. She also stated that she'd had purchased the watch for him.

What in the world does that have to do with your purely from whole cloth supposition that he drove FROM his apartment TO another state in order to hide evidence.

Could it be that he may have hoped not to drag another innocent person besides himself into the quagmire of suspicion cast by those who think as you do?

No, I suppose such a thing as that bit of chivalry is well beyond your experience.

Oh now you've really got me laughing.

Chivalry?????? I don't think so!!! This man uses women, and has led a double life for many years. He's not worried about protecting all these women, he's just trying to protect his own rear end. Doesn't seem to be working though.

Here's another who tells she was given the same instructions that Levy and all the others were given.

So defend his actions all you want......he's a sleaze in my book, certainly no Knight as you imply.

Wasn't it you, krs, who was saying Anne Marie Smith was a liar and there was no proof of what she was saying about her relationship with Condit? I believe it was.

Hi Linda,

Sorry about the delay...domestic chores called..*G*

From what I've seen on local news reports, Condit's family has been keeping a low profile as of late....

I read the same story you referenced in our local paper....either Condit is very consistent or the people out there are very good liars (doubtful)...
Unfortunately, I've had some good female friends over the years who have experienced the same thing and by and large the men involved usually have a standard plan for both the romance and the secrecy...so reading this doesn't surprise me..

If I see any significant local news, I'll be sure to post....I haven't formed an opinion yet about Condit's role in Chandra's disappearance, preferring to keep an open mind at this point. Time will tell and I'm believe we have only an insignificant part of the whole story at this point...

I hope folks won't mind if this thread gets bumped up occasionally....I'm sure lots of AW members have a daughter or sister and can empathize with what the Levy's are going through...

LindaK: This man uses women

It takes two to tango. Did Condit have a lot of affairs? Yes, certainly. Do I approve of that? No.

But it seems to me that the women he had those affairs with were willing participants. They were doing a bit of using themselves.

All those young hussies live for is to get closer to power and they'll do anything to do it. The higher the better, and they keep score amongst themselves. Monika Lewinsky scored large, and is the envy of every political groupie across the land. It's a world that I'm sure you'll never understand.

What's a guy to do?

And yes, Linda, it was I who said there was no proof, and there still is no proof. Becuase some little money seeking trollop says so is proof to you? She HAS to stick to her story now, remember what happened to that other liar?

The ONLY people who would lend any credence whatsoever to the word of any of these ditzy little game players are scandal mongering republicans living out an otherwise bleak and useless life.

A former receptionist who gave a gift
watch box that Rep. Gary Condit reportedly discarded
before police searched his condo told colleagues she was
romantically involved with her boss, an informed source
told The Bee on Tuesday.

The alleged relationship between the married congressman
and a young woman on his congressional payroll took
place years before Chandra Levy disappeared. But
investigators searching for Levy have reportedly already
interviewed the woman, now living in Northern California,
as they seek to understand Condit's behavior.

Police have emphasized that though they could benefit from
talking to Condit for a fourth time, they **do not see any
connection between the gift watch box and the Levy
disappearance**.

"The case has never been classified as a criminal matter, and *Condit has
never been called a suspect*. But at the Levys' urging, the police have
searched Condit's apartment, questioned his staff and asked him to
take a lie detector test.

"The Levys built a long-term strategy, and it's working," said Mark
Klaas, whose daughter Polly was abducted and murdered in Petaluma,
Calif., eight years ago. "It's really brilliant. Unfortunately, not everyone
who has a missing child has their resources."

While reading USA Today came across a paragraph about an ebay auction for a photo collage of Condit and Levy. Someone called representing Condit and ask for it to be cancelled, it was. Wonder if the 'artist' was anyone we know.

Hi Pat - On Condit's family....I can only imagine what they're going through or feeling...especially the teenage (??) children. Think it would be hard enough to find out your parents were having problems, but to have your father's behavior talked about on the news everyday, must be hard.

Now the news is saying the investigators want to talk with Mrs. Condit again. Seems that there was a 10 minute phone call from the Condit's home (in Modesto) to Condit's apartment in WA. DC. at a time when he claims he wasn't there.
And he says he doesn't remember the call. Hmmmmmm......

Hi bunnicula I totally agree with what you've shared, but since we have a missing young lady here, and Condit was involved with her, it makes it a little different to me.

I can't go back to the last page, but someone mentioned the Levy's keeping the pressure and media attention on Condit, hiring an attorney and private investigator, etc. I'm glad they've been able to do so. I wish everyone could affort to do so. IMO, if Condit hadn't lied to them about his relationship with Chandra, when they knew he was, they might not have taken this route. As a parent, I'd certainly being doing everything within our means to find our daughter.

All these other relationships may not have been discovered if he had not lied but rather made the Levy's feel like he was genuinely concerned about their daughter's disappearance.

Two people that had called on Condit to speak up and cooperate were Senators Diane Fienstien, and Senator Barbara Boxer. While they might be living out bleak and useless lives they aren't republicans.

I'm sure Condit would love for everyone to think like you krs, but it isn't happening.

The tequilla twins was important news to you krs from your postings, but now you see a republican conspiracy on this story. Interesting thought process.

COPS: CONDIT WIFE ATTACKED CHANDRA; FURIOUS PHONE CALL

The NATIONAL ENQUIRER is set to report in its next edition set to hit newstands Friday that Gary Condit's wife attacked Chandra Levy days before her disappearance after a furious phone call between the two.

The ENQUIRER reports that the call between Carolyn Condit and Chandra Levy has been discovered by case investigators in which the missing intern told the wife that Gary Condit was going to dump her, and start a new life with Levy.

According to an ENQUIRER source, "Investigators got phone records that show a phone call from Condit's home in California to his apartment in Washington that was over five minutes long.

"Condit said that he did not talk to his wife during that phone call because he wasn't in the apartment at the time."

Gary Condit is said to have become enraged that Levy broke a cardinal rule of his and picked up the phone at his D.C. apartment, and confronted her over the encounter.

Investigators have pieced together that Chandra was at Condit's apartment at the time and saw on the Caller ID that an incoming call was coming from Condit's California home and that Chandra boldly picked up the receiver and that a 'blow-up phone call' ensued.

It was after that call, apparently, that Carolyn Condit took off for Washington on April 28.

Detectives now want to give Condit's wife a lie detector test because, according to a Justice Dept source, she is "now being looked at as a key to the whole investigation."

According to the ENQUIRER, Carolyn Condit has refused to take the exam.
