I mosied on over last evening and found something I've been looking for but haven't found on any other small site yet, so decided to go ahead and bid. I don't know when I've had to go through so much hoopla to place a bid! I think it took four pages to get there. I wasn't real impressed.
Exactly, if you went back to the old Gold's auction software you would not have any problem. Same people, same items, and we all know the result.
Sorry folks, but thats just the way it is!

Agree that SYI trend is of concern... but let me point out that sales on eBay are WAY down, and listings on most other sites are "flat" as well?

The huge jump (yesterday) in the number of items listed was due to dutch "information" auctions by a single seller.
Apparently, some folks concerns about "information" auctions found responsive ears with SYI and the seller has re-listed the auctions for greatly reduced quantities.

Check the closed listings. Quite a few have closed with bids in the past 30 days.
go to the site map, click on completed, wait for the page to finish loading. Then click on bidcount and descending order. It will give you a better idea of what has sold in the past 30 days.
The buynow auctions are included in the completed. You obviously won't see them in the current listings

Hello Vivacity,
Good question.
SYI appears to have reached its present level of listings (7K - 8K per day) through signup referral bonuses, auto re-list and word of mouth.
Some initiatives have been taken by sellers.
Included is an informal "At Cost" style auction where the seller offers items at their cost in the hopes of attracting bidders.
Some sellers have listed items below the starting bid they would ask for the same item on other auction sites.
What is needed at this point in my opinion is a good advertising campaign or a major eBay breakdown for an extended time or at a critical time.

This time of year is usually a little slow and you have to consider the general economic outlook, too. This auction has too short a history to start making pronouncements about their demise. Hopefully they have a smart business plan and can deal with the 'startup blues.' eBay needs the competition - they're starting to think like the old AT&T and IBM!

I Really like this place! Super Innovative Features How long have we all wanted a site that would import our feedback??SYI actually did it..apparently there is someone that understands or ACTUALLY has done auctions involved with this site..THEY GET IT!
i have sent 2 friends there all ready!
Great deals too with the "at cost" sale..nice & clean easy fun site..
I think by Christmas a lot of the sellers at other sites will give this a try & if the bids are there they will stay..
They need some press releases,some advertising,even banner exchanges..
i like being able to have a link to my website,the automatic counters..
Super SMART referral program..i think this place will ROCK THIS FALL!
