Hi there -

Not sure why you cannot contact us via email.

I don't think I am allowed to post my email address.

Also, you can access the beta information from our front page.

Contact information can be found on our About US page, which is links from the bottom of the main page.

I cannot provide any more contact information than that within this forum, but you may also want to visit our forum for additional information, and you can find me there easily.

Thank you -

Tracey

hello;
Thank you for the quick response, I take it back, very nice site, and I cannot wait to sign up. I especially like the fact that buyers can see my ebay ratings, over 900 positive, its a real plus. I spend way to much capital on listing and reliost fees, and do not like the ideal that ebay tries to spam my buyers to other sellers. Hope you guys stay away from that. Can I buy stock??

Gegy: I have sold thousands of items on ebay during the past two years and have never had to furnish them with a credit card or any bank account information. I send them a check from time to time and always keep a balance in my account. (In other words, they always owe me). Will I be able to do the same thing at Gegy when it gets up and running?

Is it true that the CEO has been harvesting emails for the last few months?

I was just made aware of this disturbing piece of news.

Well, he told me on the phone and also in a thread on Gegy that is now deleted (but I have a copy saved) that he didn't have anything to do with the spamming email newsletter Auction Eagle.

But there are a couple dozen Usenet posts made by him where he spammed the name Auction Eagle in many Usenet Groups.

And a post in Usenet asking for someone to help him harvest emails.

So yeah, I think the answer to that would be 'yes'.

Funny thing is, he also posted that he had Auction Eagle shut down for spamming by contacting their provider.

Tracy at Gegy

The About Us link has been dead since this thread was first posted. The User Agreement is a network error message and has been since this thread was first posted.I also see that the privacy statement has been amended. What security do beta testers have that their info will be held confidential? You collect emails, any chat posts, all site use info... etc? We don't know anything about you-- but you ask a lot about us.

If you would kindly direct your attention to the front page of our site, you will find that both the User Agreement and the About Us Links in the bottom navigational area work perfectly fine, and have done since long before we launched the beta phase of the venture.

If you were attempting to access links from within the site, then I can understand your quandry since many areas of the site within are not yet active.

Everything on the site will be wiped clean after beta, and before we launch. The information requested of all beta testers is mininal and non-intrusive. As stated in the beta agreement, we have legally stated that the information collected will be used for no other reason that beta testing.

Thanks for your questions.

Hi Tracey at Gegy

Thank you for pointing me specifically to the .com page. I did not even bother to look there at the bottom when using this page- just had moved on to the auction portion and thought that was what you were referring to in your post. Perhaps there should be a notice on this home page saying it is the only fully operational page - the rest are temporary-- since it is your key page--just a suggestion. Thank you kindly for the clarification!

This site is doing good work thanks to all the Gegy staff. Just wanted to add that they have put up a military forum to their forums.

Okay, now that I've read all about Gregy - when does the site open for real - that is beyond beta testing?

In what State are you headquartered / incorporated?

I hate to think another California based auctions with their endless CA restrictions!!

Sounds like it opens for real in August 2001. Right now they're still throwing the site together and Beta testing. Why they've let us see it while its still in a shambles, months before going live, is a little perplexing. Most likely to generate fervor about the site through word of mouth and solicit user input into the design. At least that's my guess. Then again, what the heck do I know?

Unfortunately, I just checked the location of Gegy's Headquarters - wouldn't you know another California based auction with the endless rules and restrictions California auctions impose. I wish to heck someone with tons of funds would open a powerful auction site in the free South, where all the rules and regulations don't apply. I suppose I’ll have to keep most of my unique edged items on niche sites.

seller004- Just curious where you got the August date?I hadn't seen it anywhere.

JWPC--I did see a California?? office mentioned in the About Us--they're software was designed in Texas--maybe there or Canada to incorporate??

Has anyone looked up where and to who the business was registered-- not the domain name?

Gegy

I am wondering if links to our web sites will be permitted in our postings on Gegy? For us this was the last straw which ran us from eBay. I see no harm in linking to a personal web site, and for many sellers it is very important - will Gegy permit this?

So, even though their domain is registered in Nova Scotia, where their CEO resides, they've chosen to incorporate and headquarter in California?

Go figure....

They must indeed have more money than I thought...

Pat

edited to add that their DNS servers are registered in St. Johns, NewFoundland...

I have to agree with JWPC, the California location is a bummer.

So, if they are out of Canada - but headquartered in California - whose "rules" apply - Canadian or California?

labelle,

I'm just taking a SWAG on the August 2001 going live date for Gegy. Their Beta testing starts July 15th (was delayed due to implementation of some user requested functionality) from what I read and then runs 2 weeks. So I'm guessing they go live in August. Then again what the heck do I know? Maybe Beta testing reveals all sorts of problems and they have to delay the opening. Who the heck knows?

Might want to ask Tracy on the Gegy forum.

I recall something about Delaware as the state of incorporation. I don't know if it was for a certain portion of the "suite of sites" or if the whole shooting gallery is incorporated together.

Servers are located in Canada per the CEO.

Toollady-- that's right - they are
co-branded with a "suite of sites". The Texas firm only did 2 of the program areas that I saw. That means in actuality you could be dealing with multiple registrations, one for each business/portion of the site. Right?

What happened to the fervor around this site opening? Very few posts about Gegy since they delayed Beta testing for a few weeks. Is Beta testing starting July 15th or has it already begun. Can't tell from the site.

Vinny,

Thanks. Have you been under the hood and seen the site layout yet? Wondering how it compares to the new Carnaby site in terms of professional layout. Both claim to have large Ad budgets and aim to bring in buyers as a top priority. I tend to believe Carnaby considering how well done the site layout and features are ---- that's no site someone threw together overnight. The jury's still out on Gegy since we haven't seen anything fully functional yet. However, I prefer Gegy since it charges no listing fees and the FVFs are much lower than eBay. But I'll take 2 BargainandHaggle-like viable venues springing up to compete with eBay any day! Hope both succeed.

Well I have and I haven't. I have been into the kids games and they are fun email and the live auction. Everything else has to wait till the 15th. So far so good. I really like the live auction platform and the fact that even tho I am not a huge auction house I can still use it. It was pretty addictive. LOL good thing I wasn't spending my money.
