Anybody about? Looks like it's been a quiet time in here this week.
Is the fridge empty again?

nettak, I read your other post in the R/T tonight and whilst I may have had a good chuckle about how you described it I can understand how uncomfortable you must all be about the examinations.
You'd think that in this day and age there would be a better way of doing this.

Yes you would think that there would be a better not so hurty way to get a Breast Examination done. But it seems that this is the way it is for now and we have it done or leave our fate to the gods.
How is your son doing with his job? I forgot to tell you that my oldest boy got a job as well, and my youngest was offered one today and he turned it down. I could not believe it, I wanted to box his ears for him but he is taller than me and I would not have reached.

I can hardly keep my eyes open and it is damn cold here tonight so I will say goodnight and head for my warm bed.

Ooops! Just sneaked out to watch the cricket.
My boy is working flat out at the moment, travelling all over the State. He's just finished nine days straight. Got a few days off and then he's got about ten days straight to do.
He got his first big pay cheque this week. Do you think he didn't complain about the amount of tax he had to pay!
It's been a funny old week this week. I'm listing like mad at the moment.
I had to get heavy with a good ol' redneck this week in the States but things worked out ok!
I also had an email from eBay today saying that they'd given me Power Seller status.
I'm that weary right now that I don't think I've got any spare power to sell!
It all sounds like a load of hype as far as I can see.

Yes don't get too excited about the power seller thing. I got a mail this week saying I was removed as one because I have not sold enough. Being a power seller and a buck will get you a cup of coffee.
I was a power seller for 2 years and they never did send me a sign for flea markets and trade shows like they said they would.
Someone sent us a card yesterday saying they knew we had been through the wringer lately and had some bad luck and they hoped we would take the enclosed money and take a break to recharge. It was well stuffed with twenty dollar bills. That was so nice - and no signature or even cursive writting to tell who. Made my wife cry a bit.
Taking care of her Mom with Alzheimer's is so hard she is starting to plan things to do whenm she is in the nursing home because we can see it is getting pretty close.

Hi all of you wonderful people! Have ya missed me? I've been under the weather for going on 2 weeks now and just haven't had the gumption (sp?) to get on the computer. Yes, it's true! LOL
We had the wildest thunderstorm last night! Hubby was watching Die Hard, which isn't a quiet movie. I didn't budge, but the thunder was so loud that woke me up! It rained like cats & dogs too, finally. I so wanted to take pictures for everyone, but I didn't want to get wet. Needless to say I stayed off the computer. I didn't want to have a Zilvy experience, LOL!
I don't really have any other new news. I'm still jobless. Oh, wait, I almost forgot! Motorola announced this week that they are closing 2 more plants here. It's starting to look pretty bleak for them all over. I was reading an article in, I think it was Newsweek, about can Chris Galvin (the CEO) save Motorola? Since he took over in 1997, they've had a lot of problems and have lost tons of money. The whole industry is slowing down, but Motorola stock is down more than any others.
I'll try to stay up for awhile to say hi to someone, anyone!

Hello Mouse glad to see you made it back.
I am glad you did not try to go out in the rain to take the photos', you could have ended up even sicker than you have been.
Gravid, that is a lovely story about your friends (whoever it was), sending you the money in the card. That is a true friend and someone who cares very much for your family. They obviously do not want you to refuse to take the money so they have chosen to give it to you in this fashion. I really do believe that only an extremely loving and good friend would even contemplate doing such a wonderful thing.
Bob I bet your son did get a shock when he saw the amount of tax that was taken out of his pay. The young ones' don't usually realise how much tax they will have to pay, so when they see it taken out, it is almost like they have been robbed. I guess you could say that is true, because in my opinion our government has been robbing us with our taxes for years.
Congratulations on becoming a Power Seller. I don't know if it is a good or a bad thing to be a Power Seller, I have seen some good things about it and some not so good, but I think it depends on the seller and how you look at things.
I do know a couple of other Australian sellers that are Power Sellers, but only one of them even bothers to put that in their auctions. It would not hurt to put it in the auction and see if it does anything for you. What else does Ebay offer to a Power Seller, anything worth having?
posted on August 18, 2001 02:07:00 AM
Hi nettak, I'm not going to bother with this Power Seller thing. I can't see any real benefits to it and if most people are like me, I'm always leary of someone who does display the logo. I tend to think that if they're busy sellers I might not get the level of care and attention that little old me expects.
Just having another chuckle about your ice packs in the legs thread. Sort of goes with your boobs in the fridge door! You're not Eskimo Nell in disguise are you?
I don't have restless legs but my missus reckons I suffer from wandering hands. If I were put 'em in the fridge first then she really would have something to complain about!

posted on August 18, 2001 02:13:56 AMmouse, Good to see you. Like you, we are having some wild weather down here. Gales, rain, high winds and hail. There's houses down, roofs blown away, trees uprooted everywhere and a lot of damage around the place. The forecast reckons it'll be like this until Tuesday.
Don't look too good for my golf game tommorow!

Sneaking 'round the corner to say hello to bitsandbobs and nettak... it's been ages since I've been in the RT and said hello to y'all.
I get the feeling I've missed a few good parties on this thread.
One day when I've got a spare few hours (heh) I'll sit down and try to read some of this thread and catch up on the news.
Couldn't sleep tonight so I just happen to be around at the right hour to say hello.

Hi Enchanted, Good to see you again.
Some of the old party goers have run out of stamina these days.
I might have to spike up the drinks and kick some life back into the party!

Sorry I was gone for longer than I planned. I was feeding the baby, and he is back asleep for now.
Hi Enchanted it is ages since I last talked to you. It is really good to see you again.
Bob yes just call me Eskimo Nell. I know it sounds funny about the ice packs for aching legs, but for me it works. I don't know why and I am not going to question the only thing that brings me a pain free sleep. I do not have this problem as much as I used to but I can now tell when it is going to happen, and I am prepared for it.
WOW hasn't it been a bitterly cold wind lately, I know we should expect it at this time of year but the SW winds seem a heck of a lot colder than normal. Did you see the snow at Thredbo? A very good ski season after a slow start. I bet they are happy.
posted on August 18, 2001 03:31:29 AM
Actually it is nice and warm inside, I have the fire going.
If we can stay out of the wind it is not so bad, it is just the wind cuts right through you and chills you to the bone. Or at least that is how it feels to me.

Distracted again watching the cricket. The Aussies are hammering the Poms!
Busy doing some photos for next weeks listings too.
I'll keep popping in and out.

Hi nettak, Still cold up your way?
We have had a really wild and wooly weekend. It looks like it'll keep up for a few more days yet.
Still, it's no use whinging because we need the rain so badly, but it's nice to keep the roof on the house to keep the rain out!

posted on August 20, 2001 10:09:42 PMLOL, Hi Zilvy, had to dash yeterday. Sylvies father was taken ill and had to be rushed to hospital.Things weren't so bad as they looked so we're just returning to normal again.
Getting back to that sandwich. I don't know everything that went into it but I did see ham, pickles, cranberry sauce, tomatos, cheese, vegemite, peppers, worcester sauce and some other odds and ends! All on rye bread.
Come to think of it he may have made one for FIL. That could explain a lot!
To cap it all off the washing machine threw a fit, burst a hose, flooded the laundry and then died. The repair man called round today and reckons it ain't worth fixing. Water got into the motor and shorted it all out or something.
Are clapped out washing machines any good on eBay?
It'll end up in the back of my shed and will make a good home for Spaz's spiders.

Hello how is everyone. I tried to get in last night but the site was down. Anyway glad to see some of you obviously got in at some stage.
The holy electrician came out again yesterday, and to cut a long story short we now have the auto timer working for the pool pump.
We also have a new puppy. She is a cattle/ collie X and is 2 months old. My wonderful husband decided that we needed to get another dog so that it could be trained to be a super watch dog.....yeah right! Any dog that comes into our house will end up as a pet and there is no doubt about that at all. Anyway my oldest son went and got her on Saturday night. So far I have mopped up I don't know how many puddles and scooped so much poop I am ready to scream.
But she is cute so I will let her stay I guess. Her name is Jess. Now we have 3 dogs in the house.......I must be mad.
Bob sorry about you FIL and I hope he makes a speedy recovery. You son's sandwich filling sounds interesting to say the least. I have seen my boys' and there mates do some weird and wonderful things with food, I think it is that age and of course like the earrings and hair colours, they have to be different.
Spaz all I can say again is Email Jan!!, she would be stoked big time. The last contact I had with her was about a week ago and it was only a 1 liner. Jan to a T.......The email a few days before that was just to let me know she is still alive and has been extremely busy. I don't hear from her all the time but we do contact each other at least once a month.
I don't think she will be in until the shows have calmed down a bit and she has more time.
But while she has the show to do and is making money she is happy, so I am happy for Jan as well, even though I miss her energy and fun style.
Hi ya {{{Zilvy}}}
Oops

Spaz, nice to see you!! (Even is you did bring in those nasty spiders *shudder*)
Speaking of long lost pals, I did hear from Pharlap! She's been a bit under the weather, but she's ok.
Bob, I hope your FIL is feeling & doing better! I know all about those scares. our weather is calming down a little now and we're drying out this week. But our temps are still hot, over 100 Farenheit/38 Celsius. I can't wait for summer to be over!
Speaking of hot weather...we had the a/c repairman out for the 6th(?) time this summer this morning. They even sent a supervisor out this time. Guess what, he made it worse! I am livid needless to say. It's now about 90 degrees in the house, it's almost cooler outside. The bad part is it's affecting both me & Mom in a bad way. Before she went to lay down she said her chest was hurting (remember, she has congestive heart failure), plus she has diabetes which is also affected by heat. My gall bladder is hurting more now too from it, but it's too friggin hot to even go to bed.
I'm still not feeling to well, which is why I haven't been in much lately. I just can't seem to get enthused about getting on the computer. I haven't even been selling for the past couple of weeks. I did finally go to the doctor for it and he's sending me for an ultrasound to see what's going on. That's next Tuesday, I'll let you guys know! Anyway, I'll be here for a bit if anyone shows up...
