I remember when holier than thou people got egg on face when they found they really werent.

I remember when people who said they were christian acted like it. Seven days a week, not just on Sunday.

I remember when McDonalds still had counters posted on the arches of how many burgers sold to date.

I remember when whiners at the school yard didnt have friends because nobody would hang out with them except other whiners.

I remember when an apology meant just that, and wasnt forgotten as soon as it was accepted.

I remember when a handshake was better than a written contract.

I remember the words "do unto others".

When was that?

When was that? Well, when I was a kid and believed them when they preached. When one would go to church all dressed in their Sunday best and proudly put their quarter in the bowl passed around. When one was told that if one was baptised, one would be saved and that basically everyone was kind. When one was told to do unto others as one would want others to do unto one. When the world was rosey, in my young eyes.

I woke up.

I remember when politicians distanced themselves from religion and looked pompous for other reasons.

I remember when everyone knew that all politicians lied to the public.

I remember when the bullies on the playground got their comeuppance and all the regular kids laughed at them.

I remember when people voted for politicians based upon what they did for the voters, not for their "moral" standing.

I remember when the Moral Majority got the highly-rated comedy show SOAP canceled because they didn't like it and thought that no one else should have a right to watch it either.

I remember when the Moral Majority included itself into the Republican Party.

I remember the Disney movies that had the little pest that wrapped itself so cleverly around that Bad Guy/Gal and how the audience cheered when the Pest got it's comeuppance as well!

I remember when we didn't have politics jammed down our throats on virtually every thread, regardless of the subject.

I remember when I could come to AW and nobody reminded me of Rush Limbaugh.

Eensy weensy spider, went up the water spout.
Down came the rain and washed the spider out.
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain,
so the eensy weensy spider went up the spout again!

I remember the dance of the sugar plum fairies!!

I like Charlotte but she need's a web...

I remember a Little Bunny Foo Foo thread that went on for about 15 pages.

On second thought, maybe I should have posted that under "Really Bad NASTY Memories."

oh well cant let it go to waste . I think she knew

I remember when the 72 Olympics were over and how proud I was of Mark Spitz.

I remember when fluff was the norm here, and I remember liking it better than what is here now.

I remember when those who used to be friendly, were.

I remember when there were many threads that people who are NOT here anymore were populated with interesting conversation.

I remember when there was a moderator corner.

I remember silly ponderments and I remember sillier test threads.

I remember it used to be fun to see familiar faces.

I remember people who talked about comeuppance, but it was only in their dreams.

I remember (like spaz said) when politics wasnt brought into each and every thread, 24/7 by the same person.

I remember that quite a few of those whose loss is mourned on this board left in a huff because their shennanigans were no longer tolerated.

I remember constant attacks & bullying the like of which makes what goes on these days look like balmy zephyrs.

I remember the Moderator's Corner, too--and why it became necessary to *have* one. Though I wish it was still around.

I too remember a time when politics wasn't the main topic. But then it wasn't an election year, and besides folks were too busy with threads about dirty panties, feuds involving one faction or another, personal attacks, "outing" fellow posters for any one of a number of eBay infractions (and then hounding those people from forum-to-forum & then board-to-board to make sure that they--& everyone else--never forgot that they'd Done A Bad Thing), arguments about anonymous posting & endless debates about the "believability" of posts by people who did not make their email addies available to all, etc. etc. etc. Ah, yes--the good old days.

Not long enough, lol. The last official ponderment was posted November 20, 2000.

I remember when a girl could turn down a date by telling him she had to wash her hair.

I remember when we plowed the fields with a mule.

I remember when we heated the bath water on the wood stove.

Heck, I remember the Alamo...not the movie, the real one. No, wait...it was the movie.

I remember watching Dark Shadows every day.

I remember Erica Kane's first husband on "All My Children".

I remember when moderation meant to watch what you eat and drink.

Hello Everyone,

I have let you freely reminisce about the old AW during my shift without interference. I'm leaving now and would just like to ask that you stay away from making comments that could be hurtful or insulting to other members.

The thread will be locked should that occur.

G'nite everyone,

Gawd, of all the ponderments you picked, it would have to be a political one. LOL!

"outing" fellow posters for any one of a number of eBay infractions (and then hounding those people from forum-to-forum & then board-to-board to make sure that they--& everyone else--never forgot that they'd Done A Bad Thing)

Bunnicula, that is still going on...as we speak, in fact.

No, hepburn, Phillip was her SECOND husband. Erica made a play for Phillip (she caused him to break up with Tara Martin in high school), but when she didn't get him, she married Tara's older brother, Jeff Martin. Jeff was her first husband. She married Phillip four years later.

It's sick that I know this yet I can't remember the names of half my husband's relatives. I just call everybody "Sweetie".

I remember dancing in the park until 5 in the morning and then being at work by 7.And not being tired at all.

I remember wearing a size 7.

I remember driving around the desert all night in my 67 GTO because it was too hot to sleep.

I remember camping in the rain and drinking hot chocolate and loving every minute!

I remember catching dungeness crabs to eat but feeling sorry for them and letting them go.

I remember sleeping in the backyard in a blanket tent and the boys from next door tossing rocks at it to get our attention.

I remember everyone having to go home when the streetlights came on.

Moderator,

I request that this thread be locked as these people are tormenting me, wrecking my marriage, and making my home into a virtual juke joint hell.

I only realized this was happening this evening after opening an e-mail message that said, "Congratulations! You are the lucky high bidder on a LIGHTED DISCO BALL!".

PLEASE make them stop and insist that they compensate my pain and suffering by deprogramming my husband. Disco is NOT "in".

JT, I swear if you sniped me out of that Disco Ball there will be hell to pay. No moderator in this joint can save you from my wrath. I need that Disco Ball! Our Seniors group is doing a reprise of "Saturday Night Fever". Fortunately, this coincides with the local hospital's two-for-one special on hip replacement surgery. Now if I could just find my pink Afro wig...
