I got a phone call from Yahoo!!!
I do believe they are listening to us and reading the boards, but I don't believe they understand our logic regarding the
fees and listing order, but they ARE listening, just not quite understanding. They seem to be so sure that what they've
done is going to better Yahoo.
I emphasized how we have put our hearts into making Yahoo grow. I made it clear that we don't have a problem with
realistic FVF fees and that they have done it backwards going with listing fees instead of FVF fees.
I did get one thing clarified I think. What they are calling "junk" is thousands of auctions selling recipes, get rich quick
plans, and crap like that. They truely believe that listing fees will control that. I explained that spam is on all sites and
we need to find a better way to control it because the way they have chosen, they are killing off everything else in the
process!
They want us to let their idea play out and see if it works. I explained that we have already done that, at Amazon, and
it DID NOT WORK! I begged them to LEARN from Amazon's mistake.
Yahoo is the ONLY auction site left out here that is large enough, viable enough, has the ease of navigation necessary,
and the seller base to give ANY competition to ebay, and before they did this damage they were breathing down
ebays throat.
I explained that fixing the listing order and changing to FVF instead of listing fees would have money rolling into
Yahoo immediately. I explained that we had our hearts into making Yahoo #1 and that the HUGE mistake they have
made this past week will kill our dream as well as theirs. I explained that we are not a bunch of hooligans wanting a
free ride. This is not our quest at all. I explained that this is devastating us because we can see the writing on the wall.
What they have done will only help EBAY, NOT YAHOO!
I can only hope that I did some good. If I didn't please feel free to dig a 6 foot hole and push me in. If they don't fix
the HUGE mistake they have made and do it SOON, it will be too late to save Yahoo in my humble opinion.
The person I talked to PROMISED me that he would bring all this up in the meeting they are having this afternoon.
GAWD! As I was writing this I got ANOTHER phone call! They have FIXED THE LISTING ORDER!!!!!!!
AND they are willing to talk to anyone willing to email me their name and phone numbers to forward on to them.

That wasn't even talked about. I think they are finally realizing that Yahoo means as much to US as it does to them.

Let's see. Joan of Arc + Heygrape = Joan of Grape.
Does not roll off your tongue but it gets the job done.
Great new. Listing order changed, they are willing to listen and there actually is hope for the future.
Thank you. (both heygrape and YAHOO)

preciousminutes--I think they called me because I was relentless in finding a way to contact them.
I asked him if he would be willing to speak with others and he said yes. He asked that I not post the email or phone number but he would call as many phone numbers as he could if I would collect and email them to him.

Please include real name, Yahoo ID, and M-F daytime phone number in emails to me.
Yelling, screaming, making threats, or calling names will NOT help our cause. Please remember that. What really works is speaking Deep Deep from within your hearts.

Just checked Yahoo!Auctions, both by clicking through the categories and a keyword search. Listings are still a disorganized mess.

to be more precise, the regular listings are now sorted by ending time, but the featured items and search results are still jumbled.

I talked to him the first time. Then I started typing my post and he called me back. He said they are working on restoring the listing order today. So, I'm not sure if they are done.
I am well known by many people on these boards and they know I don't fib. I don't #*!@ on important matters such as these. But if you feel the need to shoot the messenger, go for it. I'm a big girl and I can take it.

Yahoo!Auctions has little credibility at this point. The two Yahoo!Chat's from last week clearly showed the mindset of these people.

I only looked at a few categories but the regular listings were changed to a time remaining before closing order.
Ahead of the regular listings were featured items and a section of "hot" items with one or more bids.
Appears the usual listings are back to "time remaining" with some "specials" up front.
I could well understand that it might take some time to re-sort the entire data base.

Can't they read???
We HAVE been telling them for the last week - all they need to do is read the posts or the emails that sellers have sent- or do all the emails go to the trash unread (as I have suspected all along) ???
Last year, Yahoo founders said "auctions would always be free" and I relied on that statement. I would not mind a reasonable FVF but NO LISTING OR RESERVE FEES
Even if they changed their mind now, the damage is done. They have already shown they can not be trusted and if they reverse their decision, they will show how incompetent they really are. As it is, their listing form STINKS (having to select the category before getting the form to list the item) and there is no way to change a category even when you are relisting an item without redoing the whole listing. The only saving factor was being able to select the ending time- I was able to list during the day and still have my auctions end at night. I made the suggestion a year ago to change it- and they didn't. As for the stupid way they have the categories set up- NO ONE looks for collectible radios under "appliances" - I had to do some major advertising to get radio buyers to find the radios category.
I was paying Yahoo $100. - $200. a month for featuring my items already. I can't afford to pay relist upon relist fees for the same items. It sometimes takes 3-4 tries to find the right buyer - and there is NO WAY I will pay reserve fees- that is why I left eGREED last year.
Yahoo already has a rule against posting spam auctions- they need to enforce it. I have reported a few spam auctions and inappropriate category auctions and NOTHING was done about them (and yet they immediately removed my rock protest auction that didn't violate ANY rules - they can't tell me which rule it violated after my repeated emails asking to clarify why it was a violation)
Yahoo has lost my loyalty. My ID on Yahoo is Reinbeaux and if Yahoo can't find my name and phone number in their system, then there is a major problem (they have no problem finding my credit card number to bill every month)

dimview- There are pages of Featured at the beginning of the categorie and I don't think that had been fixed yet.The rest is in order.
heygrape- Well at least this shows that Yahoo is willing to compromise and just may have been listening to us. They are giving us what won't cost them-but they are compromising. If junk(according to their definition) is the key- maybe there is someone with a suggestion as to how to stop it.

OK. I went back and rechecked. For the category mentioned the featured listings were what I posted and they are still a disorganized mess. But I clicked past several pages of featured listings, and the regular listings are indeed in time order.

He didn't ask me if he could talk to ya'll.
I asked him. I told them there were many people wishing for real contact with a real person.
I understand how many of you are so disgusted by all this, nothing will bring you back. And I told them that too. I told him that many of the sellers they are losing now will never return.
And I'm still not optimistic about the fees problem. That's why the more people that drive this in, talking to them in person might help. Please do not send phone number if you don't care about Yahoo as much as I do, and have given up on them.

heygrape:
I do (did?) care about Yahoo. I tried reasoning with eGREED when they announced the extortion (reserve) fees last year - and it did not do a bit of good. I emailed Yahoo about the listing fees and posted here- and it didn't do any good. I feel that any attempt is like trying to revive a dead horse. They stated auctions would always be free and now they have shown they can not be trusted no matter what they say.
I tried amazon last year- I was even bidding on many items just trying to get amazon going (thanks for the silly Oscar Meyer whistles by the way - I have no idea what I can do with them - they are still sitting here) I also tried Golds and listened to them say they were getting new equipment next week (they said that week after week) and they are now history
I just have no loyalty to any auction site anymore. I have been through the wringer with several of them with the same results. I just can't sit, beg, and reason with Yahoo because they won't listen- neither did eGREED. If a site wants to make it, they ned to know they can't stab people in the back and then expect loyalty from those same custoners. Because of what Yahoo is doing, I may move my discussion groups away from eGroups to another non-Yahoo site. I also will be deleting Yahoo Messenger and anything Yahoo off of my system- I will not be nickel and dimed to death just so I can use Yahoo anything.

pegasus--I totally understand your frustration. I've been there, done it too. Begged Amazon to see the light before it was too late too, but they chose to die. Egreed is another story. I have the deepest disrespect for them and their abusive treatment of sellers.
It's just that Yahoo is all we have left that is viable enough to compete with Egreed. I just can't give up yet.
If you have buyer remorse on the Weenie Whistles, please return for a full refund.

heygrape - keep doing what you are doing if you are following your heart. I just find it extremely difficult to just roll over to get my belly scratched (I am NOT saying this is what you or anybody else who is pleased is doing) after all the deceit that has gone down in the last week alone. Somebody says "jump" and somebody says "how high"?
Pegasus is right. How much clearer could it be to YaWho? if they would just visit the boards and I guarantee they ARE and HAVE BEEN here. So what in the H*** is this phone call circus now?
What I get bent out of shape about is sincere and good people getting taken gross advantage of. It just fries me to the hilt.

heygrape, if you think it will help explain the situation to Yahoo, please feel free to copy the open letter to BidBay's CEO that I posted, and forward it to them.
I don't need to talk to Yawho by phone - I've emailed them, emailed other auction sites, and posted my frustrations on this board. I've also cancelled 600+ auctions listed on Yawho, and am currently listing them on eBay and BidBay.
I may eventually go back to Yawho, if they eliminate the listing fees and go for a FVF, but it will be a long time before they earn my trust again.
Good luck.

I guess the phone call circus is my fault. I just knew I couldn't talk them out of their mistake by myself.
I have 12 names and numbers now and will forward them to this fella at Yahoo. Might as well wait on more phone numbers until we hear if he's called any one of these peoples.
Maybe I should quit trying to hard to save it.

heygrape, you keep trying! If Yahoo were to change their minds TODAY or tomorrow, not Wednesday, they might be able to salvage the site.
However, a public apology to its auction users would be in order.
Many of us DO care - it just seems that Yahoo doesn't care that we do.
