Maybe none of us feel comfortable announcing it when it isnt our place to. I dunno. Thats my reason, anyway. But I also want the chance to say goodbye, too, and I dont know how long we all have. Hence...goodbye. Stuck between a rock and hard place.
If you werent so secretive spaz, someone could email you. But we cant. So we have to hint.

Their marketing people are morons. These boards are their biggest draw. Maybe they do lose money on them, but I suppose they've never heard of a "loss leader" -- the thing a supermarket advertises at great sale prices and loses money on that particular product but does it to get people into the store.

They probably also want the credit card numbers, name, etc. to generate some additional income by selling the customer lists and info to direct marketing firms, or their advertising clients.

I'm not planning on giving my CC# to AW, so I guess this is goodbye for me as well? And here I thought everybody was leaving in a mass snit over ruffled feathers.
I've been here since June of 1999. Not an original member by anyt stretch, but long enough to get attached to the place [even after leaving in my own snit a couple of years ago].
I'd be lying if I said I got along with everybody here all the time, and there are certainly some departed members who I never missed after they left, but all in all I've enjoyed my stay here. And I certainly hope some of you found my long winded posts helpful, enlightening, thought-provoking, entertaining, or what have you.
My e-mail address is posted in my profile, in case anybody cares to chat now and then.

After dealing with some of the more contentious posters they could easily become Lion Tamers or some other dangerous vocation, only they would be eligible to receive hazardous duty pay.
