>>>Bars are boring places to be<<<
Helen:
There is a very under-used BackRoom available. With your presence, boring could never be an option
I would consider it to be "non-confrontational" at the Bar.
Boring?
Well, I need practice with fluff and niceties
(or did you forget I'm getting hitched?)

There's already an "us" and "them" atmosphere developing between those who have decided to stay and those who are leaving (I'm not even sure "leaving" is the proper word, because in fact we are being jettisoned).
In eBay Outlook, I saw some guy praising this change, saying he was glad it would get rid of all the freeloaders on the boards (meaning those who don't use AW's auction tool services). Naturally he was someone whose name is utterly unrecognizable, certainly not someone who has contributed to the boards here for any length of time.
Hjw, maybe you don't like bars because nobody will let you get away with the crap you get away with here, eh?

People are creatures of habit, so I think that most of them who say they are leaving will be back.
They will not be able to resist. I do hope so.

Oh, I dunno Helen. Have you read the bar lately? Im sure something might catch your interest. You wont know unless you give it a try.

HJW, you had your chance to add to a poetry thread once upon a time but you chose to be arbitrary as usual and posted some drivle about candy is dandy and liquor is quicker, was that because Antiquary and krs weren't around to admire your little self ? You are sooo predictable!
Nearthesea, I doubt that they will be more exciting, but I can guarandamtee ya that they will be outright ranting and name calling fests. Just refer to some of the moderations from the past.

I won’t say “goodbye“, as I’m sure I’ll run into many of you elsewhere.
AW is making a business choice, and for that, they can’t be faulted. I make business choices all the time. I would love to stay and support AW, but I find that the paid services they offer are either something I don’t need, or are not competivly priced.
When the “free” picture server crunch hit, the first place I looked at for hosting my auction pictures was here at AW. I was impressed with AW because of the very minimum amount of “down time” they have. The “per picture” fee structure was too expensive (I figure about $7 a week), and the $200 per year fee is way out of line. I went with a web host that I pay $60 a year for, and get more web space and bandwidth than I ever use, and get a website hosted in the bargin. I would have went with AW’s picture hosting if it had been competivly priced.
I might possibly have put a CC on file, except after reading the terms, I see where they reserve the right to start charging for use of the forums with very little notice. A chat room / message base is something I will NEVER pay for, and I’m not fond of the idea of giving anyone a CC number when I have NO intention of buying anything. While I admit that I do pick up some useful tidbits of information here and there in the EO, for the most part, I give way more advise than I get, and I won’t pay for the priviledge. I already know where there are 2 other active message forums for discussing ebay issues. As much as I like the people in the RT, there are any number of message bases for open discussion.
I’m going to miss this place. If I could pass along a little advise to the managment, if you want people to use your paid services, get competive with prices.
"Barry is a nice guy. That wasnt very nice of yourself, helen. Boring is in the eye of the beholder, ya know."
Who is Barry? Did I mention Barry? I said the place is boring. You know that and that is why you are here right now and it is why you will be here after November 1.

I'm sure one of you will approriately credit the author of this (and hopefully find the proper wording as well). (TIA)
A man was walking down the street in his neighborhood when approached by a lady who was obviously looking for a home in the area.
"Tell me, Sir, what are the people like in this neighborhood?"
The man replied,"Well, how did like the people in your old neighborhood?"
She exclaimed,"They were wonderful! Helpful, friendly, neighborly, and kind."
"And so you will find them here" he responded.
Another homeseeker came by.
She asked,"Sir, what are the people like in this neighborhood?"
The man replied,"Well, how did like the people in your old neighborhood?"
She said,"They were awful! Miserable, cranky, mean, always complaining!"
"And so you will find them here" he responded.
"HJW, you had your chance to add to a poetry thread once upon a time but you chose to be arbitrary as usual and posted some drivle about candy is dandy and liquor is quicker, was that because Antiquary and krs weren't around to admire your little self ? You are sooo predictable!"
I go out for a few minutes and you remember a poetry thread from last year???
The absence of krs and Antiquary had nothing to do with my response to your poetry thread.
I simply posted something that I thought you would understand and appreciate.
How on earth does that post relate to this thread?

Why HJW, I'll explain....it relates to you and your attitude and since I haven't been posting on the RT for a year I can reassure you it was only a matter of months ago, followed by so many more scenarios it makes my head spin. You really are NOT one of a kind HJW, you are different but not one of a kind!!

Helen, as you know, I HAVE been at the bar. I have also been here. Since when do I have to pick a board. Sorry, I dont think I will be here after the end of this month. It pains me to go, but I dont want to put up my CC. I have been here for a long time, so if they dont incorporate the suggested grandfather clause, I will have no choice but to go. Still, I post many places. Nothing is stopping me.
You went to the bar to confront me awhile back. You said your piece, then went to the back room and said more THEN requested the thread to be locked. Nothing like a drive by and then locking it up, eh? Sorta, "last word" syndrome. You also posted when Antiquary was there, but left when he did. I find that strange, and it gives Zilvy's words some meaning, doesnt it?
Anyway, anytime you wanna chat, you know where i will be. Along with other places. Just not here.

Good Grief!
James, Zilvy's nonsense and off topic drivel isn't unusual but the fact that you searched for the thread and provided a dated link really does surprise me.
I really am ashamed that my little poem was so unappreciated. And smack me upside the head because I got the date wrong.

HJW I will be watching you on the unmoderated board...spazmodeus mentioned what you get away with...you won't without moderators. Bye

I haven't decided yet.
I do suspect there will be a lot of people like me though that come November 1, will be up in the rafters watching uaru and krs duke it out unencumbered by the intrusions of a blue stripe
