I'm right beside you MIZTEEK and I'm not even a member of your Winners Circle.
If it turns out in a year or so that I've made a sour call, I will be able to live with it with no regrets.

I hate to say it but doesn't this all sound like an Amyway gimick?

I hate to say it, but haven't a lot of people made a lot of money selling Amway?

For every guy that "is making a lot of money selling Amyway" there is a dozen more telling you what an incredible waste of time it was. Mention the name Amyway around the water cooler at work and sit back and hear the funny tales from your co-workers.
To tie this to the thread topic I personally believe Amway and Carneybay to be gimicky and not worth the time.

But "gimmicks" work, if they are properly and tastefully set up to provide product differentiation between auction sites
Some sites have achieved a modicum of success by specializing in auction categories, others by advertising, and some through contests and prizes.
No need to individually tout or bash auction sites... the market will be much harsher than we'll ever be. Here's a toast to every site that is trying to succeed-- *clink*-- but there are just too doggone many of them (and very few will survive): http://www.kenzy.com/ebay/auctions.htm
I say give Carnaby a chance, as they're trying hard to keep from becoming an eBay-wanna-bee and a dot.com casualty. They're working hard to survive and prosper. Now THAT I respect, as it's hard to do. Whereas site bashing... well, that's easy.

A solution: stay away! If this site bothers ya sooooooo much...easy, don't visit!
Talk about a lot of wasted expenditure of mental energy! Yikes! There are lots of sites that get me pantalooooons in a bunch...I avoid them!

A year ago, Carnaby was a VERY EXCITING and INNOVATIVE auction venue!
I was overjoyed with the GREAT bulk-loader )MAX) and the quick & friendly cs!
What a difference a year makes...

Hi tom ...
Yes, it's a shame.
Some auction venues don't have any glitter: they fail
Some auction venues have lots of glitter: they fail
Some auction venues have a gazillion listings: they fail
Some auction venues have no managament skills: they fail
Some auction venues have great management skills: they fail
Some auction venues have horrible layouts: they fail
Some auction venues have great layouts: they fail
Some auction venues have terrific customer service: they fail.
Some auction venues offer great prizes: they fail.
One auction venue charges it's members big bucks and treats them like cr@p: it succeeds and continues to grow.
Go figure eh

I wouldn't call sputtering along on life support a success. $5 per year for a fee is a very low fee and the only mandatory fee needed to sell. Only about one quarter of the sellers pay the $60 per year membership fee to get a few extra perks and about two or three percent pay more for even more perks.
BV could easily close at any time.
