I am very curious to see the latest sell rate numbers for BV because when I look at the featured auctions I see hardly any bids at all. I realise that many items do sell with a BIN price but the lack of recent bids should drop the sell rate.

stavecards,
What interested me was the disparity the sportscards listings increase, as sportscards sellers continue dumping their no- and low-interest items onto Bidville, while "all other category" listings have declined.
An overall increase of 63,878 listings, or +9.3%; comprised of an increase of 89,001 sportscards listings, or +25.7%, but a decrease of 25,123 "all other categories" listings, or -7.4%.

Taking a look at Bidville's homepage just now, I see 845,000+ listings, which is up some 92,000 from this morning.
If its not a glitch, there's been alot of inventory warehousing today.

I looked and looked and couldn't find the "lost tribes of Bidville" either. Where are they found at? Do you think it was a prankster or a sincere seller?

After checking a number of the seller's auctions, they do appear to be in a single top category. My read of the individual's website indicates they are selling the items on consignment and charging a 10% commission which is passed on to buyers via higher "take it now" prices, while the listings themselves state that the items are subject to prior sale by the actual owners.
(I am not sure if providing the category is within AuctionWatch guidelines.)

dimview,
Wouldn't a disclaimer like that be against a site's rules?
I mean, it isn't exactly what one would consider a pre-sale. I would think the seller would have to watch their listings very closely and end auctions as items were sold in real time.
And, with over 100,000 listings the logistics would be a nightmare. I'm wondering if this seller even has 100,000 items at their disposal. Maybe a shill lister at it were, to pump the numbers.
Are these items readily available, or are they unique?

"5.2 Binding Bids. If you receive at least one bid at or above your stated minimum price (or in the case of reserve auctions, at or above the reserve price), you are obligated to complete the transaction with the highest bidder upon the auction's completion, unless there is an exceptional circumstance, such as: (a) the buyer fails to meet the terms of your listing (such as payment method), or (b) you cannot authenticate the buyer's identity."
Looks like a violation of both Bidville's user agreement and various state statutes regarding the binding nature of auction bids.

I don't know about their ready availability, but they do appear to be 100,000+ unique listings.

I wish the new seller good luck and if the sellers items are super slow moving items they can greatly affect the bid-rate or conversely if the sellers items are fast movers they can affect the bid-rate favorably also. It is even possible the seller could do some mega shilling and really get the old bid-rate up there.

I have just found the new seller. It appears every auction may be a Take It Now auction. There is no way to see how many sold items this seller sells with BV's pathetic search engine. All auctions appear to have the word "by" in the title and a search of the closed auctions for the category the seller uses yield nothing because a two letter word is too small to search. I must say the items this seller sells are impressive. I hate the way nobody can track his closed items in case it is a shill bidding operation to jack up the bid rate. Seems unfair.
Oh yes, a quick question about another BV matter .... when did they start the Books Storefront category anyway?

Now just click "post an auction" and try to post a Books Storefront auction.

You're right, you can't do it. So BV introduced a new facet to it's auction without saying a word to anyone? What are the rules are criteria for the new feature?

The inventory warehousing continues. I see that there's now thousands of additional Books Storefront listings.
Wonder where those three missing sell-through reports are, you know, September 5, September 12 and September 19.

Maybe those three missing sell-through reports are going to be like the weekly newsletters that BV use to have on the site. They started out weekly, then sorta monthly, then nothing and now all evidence that they ever existed is gone from the site.

Those new book auctions are very high quality and mostly semi-high price items. Just the thing that does not sell on BV unfortunately. Baby clothes and special baseball cards would be better. Some website is using BV and probably not paying a cent and there is no mention of the what or why by the BV President.

Suffice to say, the seller is about to get a Bid-wherz the bidderz-ville education.
With 135,584 listings and a 1.7% sell-through rate (this is the August 29 weekly report, no updates have been made since that date), translates to weekly sales of 2,305 items.
That's 329 sales each and every day.
Okay, so how many sales have been made since the listings began?
ZERO.
I only have one other question.
How long before the seller says, "Hey, PREZ, wherz the bidderz?"
fixed UBB.

Same listing service now has 135,500+ on site. At least it evened out the sportscard ratio a little . I think the reason for the late sales reports is because the reports are very poor and we may never see another sales report from BV ( let's see if reverse psvchology works on them as I know the CEO is a lurker of this board ).
