I'm staying as long as my sales stay as good as they are. I figure that if I make a couple of dollars profit on an item, I can count that a loss, and it will pay for about 20 new listing fees for under $10 items, I don't think that's bad. I still list on eBay, but there is so much competition there now. I figure it is mostly the sellers that are leaving Yahoo, it will take longer for the buyers to leave, so for now, I'm staying.

Sounds like a good idea for the future, but realize the idea of "build it and they will come," wasn’t talking about web sites.

Many, many have learned that. It takes time to develop a web site, to get search engines to start picking up your site, and it is WORK, lots of it and endless. Web sites worked right do work well and pay off, but they have to be promoted, worked, etc. etc. You can't just build one and "they will come," because the fact is the online customer doesn’t know your site exists until you get listed on the search engines; or they see your link on auctions, etc.

We have 3 web sites, and I know it takes time to develop and promote one. After 2 years our largest and oldest site has come into its own, and is producing well, but it has taken lots of work, and lots of promotion.

We use 2 major promotional software programs now, and today I am gong to add another; you can never stop promoting. It is sad that Yahoo stopped allowing links to your site/sites. Ebay is following suit on this restriction also.

Best wishes on your site, and keep the faith, if you work it, ultimately it will pay off.

comments to Barncards and others.

Andale is building links/site for sellers listing that will be an addenda to sales and they will only charge a commission on sales.
Not bad.
I have been watching listings at yahoo and find them not only droping in quantity and quality but the bidders are also fewer. I have stayed on the side lines since fees and will remain so until it looks viable.

GOING.... I AM SAD TO SAY. I ENJOYED SELLING AT YAHOO. I AM AFRAID THEY ARE ON THEIR WAY OUT. I HAVE EMAILED TO ASK WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO INCREASE TRAFFIC AT THEIR AUCTIONS AND GOT A REPLY THAT TOTAL DOUBLETALK. NEVER EVEN ANSWERED THE QUESTION. I WILL KEEP CHECKING WITH YAHOO BUT MY CATEGORY SPORTS/JERSEYS AND CLOTHING HAS GONE FROM OVER 500 LISTINGS TO ABOUT 70. BIG DROP. NOT ENOUGH TRAFFIC TO JUSTIFY LISTING FEES.

I've left. Even before the fees started I began to have problems posting items after they changed something with YahooWallet. I kept re-entering my information, could access Yahoowallet, but I was never able to get an auction to post. Go figure? Then their customer service was NO help at all!!!!!!!!

I would like to see eBay do away with their insertion fees also, and just have a final value fee.

I have been sitting on the fence for 3 months now, waiting to see what was going to happen while I regrouped. I have not been encouraged with the new Yahoo listing fees and the results they have shown. Now I am getting off of the fence and going for greener pastures. Thanks, Yahoo......it's been nice.

I'm staying. I don't see the problem! To all you auctioneers who are dropping out... THANKS. Because of you "quiters" I have less competition and I'm selling more. The fees are not that bad if you have a hot product to sell. Rethink about Yahoo! When listing your auctions, start with a low price, try to limit your auctions in batches of 50 items, not by the 100s, set you bidders option to 1 and try to have your auctions end on Thursday or Friday. For some reason auction traffic seems a little heavier. I have found that with free auction listings that there is alot of garbage being auction. I believe Yahoo! did a good thing charging fees. I don't like ebay for one main reason... they are in competion with there own auctioneers. How can I auction a product when ebay slaps a big "Get it cheaper at Half.com" which is owned by ebay.

I'm staying, but on a very limited basis. Plans to make Yahoo the place for the majority of my products are out the window.

I think Yahoo would be wisest to have a much lower listing fee, say 1 to 5 cents along with a 1 percent final value fee.

This would allow them to generate additional income as well as discourage sellers from listing an excessive number of items that probably won't sell.
