And so what if a huge asteroid did hit us?
Would it wipe out all humans?
Wouldn’t more ‘breeding stock’ still be left here on earth than are ever likely to be stationed on Earth Station II.

A huge part of humanity suffer while we use our ‘intrinsically’ valuable resources on a pipe dream.

There is no arguement replay, if any life, no matter what evolved form, is to continue. Regardless of the plaques, WMD and any calamities that await us, if we manage to survive those calamities. The sun is a finite resouce and eventually will burn-out or go super nova and flash fry the earth and many of the planets in it's system. And since we can't detect life in the vastness of space without a supportive system. The demise of life on earth will come when the sun dies.

LMFAO!!!

Does this mean you'll go ahead and opt for the much cheaper cremation route when your time comes, KC, knowing that you'll ultimately be cremated anyway?

Well, yeah. Can't argue that. But it's SOOOO far in the future that really it's not going to matter. To be honest, we'll have LONG since used ALL the resources of the whole solar system long before this even becomes a slight worry. We really are talking MILLIONS of years for the sun to go Nova.

No. An asteroid impact would most likely burn off the entire atmosphere. Even cockroaches wouldn't survive without ANY air. It's potentially far more serious than a nuclear war. There WOULD be at least SOME survivors in a nuclear war. Not so an asteroid impact.

One hit in the gulf of mexico. Thought to be one reason why the dinosaurs died off. In addition, shock quartz was found there, the only other place it has been found is where a nuclear explosion has occured.

We can all be thankful that JFK didn't take the socialist route and we have NASA and a space program, I am looking forward to more space exploration...
