They died. The contact stating this wasnt from them, its a family member.

They are ill, or a family member is ill and dying in the hospital. Its emminent. Really. They are very sad, very depressed. The family member (or themselves) is very very weak...will be soon that they go meet their maker. But, they have their laptop there in the room and they wanted me to know this.

The dog ate the emails from me and ebay, and they forgot, since they didnt get a notice.

A tornado hit.

A hurricane hit.

They have fosterchildren who just WONT stay off the pc and keep getting into the mail...so they forgot it was due since there was no mail to remind them.

Its paypals fault.

Its their husbands fault.

They sent it. Really. Honest.

They were on vacation. Its my fault for having the auction end at that time.

Bad ISP. Can't get the email. Even though buyer received my first email with my address on it and replyed to it, he can't mail the payment because his ISP is bad and he's not receiving any of his email.

I am still trying to figure this one out.

I actually had a guy give me the old "I'm getting paid in three weeks" excuse my first week of ebay selling. He actually came through though...

Writing this for our mother. She got laid off and we didn't realize it would hit her so hard. If you want to give her negative feedback, go ahead. But we're not covering all those hot checks!

Today I got this one, "I paid you by Paypal-twice, or maybe I paid somebody else twice. I'll Paypal you again asap". Still waiting.......! A few days ago another email said "I paid 2 weeks ago, I'll run a trace on it and mail another one". Yup, and I saw Elvis the other day, he was running down the street with your payment in his hand! LMAO

Here's an old thread on the subject. I think that the excuse Pocono once received is the best I've ever heard:

http://www.auctionwatch.com/mesg/read.html?num=2&id=41247&thread=40625

(Pocono's post is the 2nd to last posting on page 1.)

me too!

Actually, I have had only one non paying bidder, and he gave NO excuse, just ignored emails and even the ebay non payment bidder form I put in. It was for a model (car) that I sold for Mr. Nobs and was for only like 15.00 but it still ticked me off. Why bid if you aren't gonna follow through?

~~~GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR~~~
Hows this one? A retalitory neg because someone was on VACATION and "sellers should wait 30 days and then email again asking nicely for payment instead of negging decent bidders".
Can we hear it again? GRRRRRRRRR
I love this thread! Meanbarbiejean Would ya send Elvis my way please - I still have my old jeans that say "Elvis Lives" - Little did I know he was delivering mail now!
I rarely have non-paying bidders, but one recently made up for the ones I don't get. She emailed to inform me that her daughter had decided to go to college after all and so of course, she wouldn't have any money to pay for her item. LOL
I have a daughter in college too - so, I cut her a break.
If your getting people using Pay pal as an exscuse you might want to listen to them. I haven't been able to get that stupid thing to work since I signed up.I have had to send checks after two or three trys each time.
It is so frustrating I wanted to try it to accept credit cards on the items I'm selling but if I can't even get it to take my money I am surely not going to trust it to give me any.
I was drunk when I bid on your item and didn't know what I was doing. Don't really want it.
vogeldanl,
Seeing yours reminded me of when we had the thread on the ebayer who bought a whole slew of video tapes, then claimed he was drunk when he placed the bid (but he DID pay for them).
I cannot recall who made the remark but some AW wit thought we should have a chapter of
M.A.D.E.
Mothers Against Drunk Ebayers
I laughed for a week over that one.
I gotta vent, or Im gonna bust. Bidders bid, then go on vacation and never send a notice they will be gone, never show courtesy to TELL me they wont confirm, OR send payment untill they get back (however long that is) and then get all indignant when a week passes without any word from them and I file a NPB form AND leave a neg. And for that, I get a retalitory neg in return because I wasnt "patient" enough, or I didnt have mind-reading capabilities to KNOW they were on vacation and having a good ol' time, and their item is sitting here with NO confirmation email, NO response to MY emails asking them to PLEASE RESPOND. My policies state payment to be here in 10 days AND CONFIRMATION within 3 days. Period. It also states DONT BID IF YOU CANT FOLLOW THESE POLICIES. They bid anyway and go on their merry way. How the heck am I to know if they arent deadbeats???? Its the same mentality of "oh well...it was only a high bid of 15 bucks, so whats the big deal?"...the big deal is ADD 15 bucks a few times and it adds up to a bill getting paid I have due, THATS WHAT!!!
....pant pant pant pant...blood pressure is goin' up.
"I'm on a mountain top in Peru working in an observatory and can't send mail for 30 days"
There really was such an observatory and his name was listed among the astronomers. But he was a deadbeat anyway.
Miscreant -and proud of it!
